Anyone have thoughts on using the L4 SE (carbon drivers) for fronts? Or the L1V2 tweeter? Would be using Arc 125 mini to push these. Looking for any info on install and opinions on sound quality versus other options. I've always used Focal or DLS in the past so not as familiar with hybrids sound etc.

Here you go: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605465

I'm using the L3SEs in the doors and center and they work great. I've got them crossed over at 160Hz and they do it without any complaints. Based on my experiences, I'm therefore sure the carbons will sound great.

Regarding the tweeter, the door sail locations scream for more laid-back silk dome tweeters and the L1V1s fit the bill. However, it's "only" a 3/4" tweeter, compared to most others in that size range being 1" or larger. I'm using Rainbow Cal-25s with the Rainbow passives and they sound great. Based on what I've heard, Morel MT-22 and MT-23s will also work great. No need to go Hybrid on the tweeter, and there are lots of choices out there.

Thanks for the link and good advice on the tweets! I think hybrid just released a new model of the L1V2, not sure of the difference, if any, as they came out just a few days ago. Silk domes may be the better route regardless.
I notice from your sig, your running the CW-10s. Are these in the underseat location? After much deliberation, I settled on Hertz 8" and will go without a trunk sub for the time being. Hybrid is to release an 8" made for our underseats in the next few months that I'm told will outperform anything available now.

Yeah look over at DIYMA Scott B. has a "scratch & dent" sale and I saw some L1V2s on the list...

Where did you hear about the 8s??? L8SE Carbon??? That would be awesome.

Local installer/friend told me about the 8" from hybrid, he has pretty good reltionship with them. only detail he mentioned was that it would be at least 3 months before they're released.

the L4SE is not the same spec as the L4 and isn't matched well with the L1V2. for the L4SE, the L1 Pro is best.

the L1V2 and L1 Pro do not fit properly and require fabrication to install with the L1 Pro requiring more work to get in there because it is bigger. the Morel MT-220 (which replaced the MT-22) does fit properly without modification and compliments the L4SE.

credit goes to VP Electricity for this info.

After looking at the specs of the L1V2, and reading some user experiences over at DIYMA, it seems that tweeter should be crossed over above 4 kHz. At that frequency, the L4SE carbon's frequency cone probably does not cover the roughly 60 degree off-axis installation in the driver's door, so there is the potential for a frequency hole between the mid and the tweeter. The only way to fix that is to use a tweeter with a lower resonance frequency, so it can be crossed lower. I think the Morel would be a great choice, but there are many others to consider as well.

I think you're right on!! just read thru the owners manual of the L4 SE and right on page 6, mentions using a lower resonance tweeter for proper front staging. Like teege said, L1 Pro seems to be a better fit as it has a lower resonance. I'm a weirdo about having matched components btw. just a mental thing i can't get over but I appreciate the recos!!
kaigoss69, i see you're in SC...where?
