Where is the "use your mirrors" smiley?

This is all on you man, the 5 series is a BIG car. I had a 2012 528 loaner for a week. It dwarfed my 335i by a lot.

And to you, my GF bought a loaded 2012 Kia Optima SX. That car is NICE! Don't get so caught up in branding.

Everything is good when it is brand new.

LOL since when was 0-60 in 5.5 sec considered slow? It might not be as quick as the E60 535i but its still fast...

- the car drives like a Ford Taurus, big, bulky drive that doesn't seem in touch with my former BMWs

- when the motor is cold it 'chugs' along sheepishly

- the turning radius is horrid. In your average parking garage i have to do five back and forths to get out of a space

- the electronics are not reliable--the bluetooth will work, but then the reverse/distance control beeper will not--I've already hit things 3 times, total cost: $600.

--the "convenience" package is really bad. I generally have to yank on the door handle 3 times before the automatic door unlock will work. Frustrating everytime you go to your car. I tried the Audi--and it's completely different.

Anyway, the list is endless. I hate driving the car. If I have to run to the store, etc, I take my wife's E-class Mercedes. Yes, can you believe it?!?! A Mercedes is nicer to drive than a BMW. I never thought I'd say that until I got my car.

I've had it a year. It's got 5K miles on it and I'm very very tempted to sell it, take a $20K hit, because the car is SO bad. However, it does look good.

I hope this helps someone avoid the mistake I did.
If you got a non X-drive you might be singing a different tune. My 328xi was a pig and felt much like what you describe. You are on the West coast man, why the X-drive?

yep, horrible...
Anything over 4.5s 0-60 is unmanageable...and not acceptable for every day drive!

Spoiled kids...

^^ lol seriously....

It wasn't too long ago sub 6 seconds was considered a quick car but nowadays people need a sub 5 second car as a necessity for a daily driver?

People can bitch all they want but the fact is cars are getting bigger and heavier. Bmw is shifting all their cars up in size/price and that is fact. Love the E39 or E60? Great go buy one or keep it forever. Nobody is forcing anyone to get into the F10.

Like someone mentioned in another forum...

E60 was a big 3 series
F10 is a small 7 series

Anyone who put handling as their top priority in a car shouldn't even be looking at a 5 regardless if its a E60 or F10.

Alan

All of that is your fault, not test driving it enough jus saying.
Also you cant expect big ol 5 series to handle like 1 or 3 series. 5 and 7 series are primarily luxury cars.
