Rear Brake change Milage under warranty
My E90 shows that I have 2600 miles left on the rear brakes. How long before the service light comes on or how low does the mileage have to be for the dealer to change the brakes under warranty?

I guess my question really is.. does the miliage indicater have to go to 0 in order for the dealer to change the brakes under waranty, or will they change them before, say when it hits 2K miles or 1K. Anyone been in this situation?

Probably depends on your dealer. Mine were replaced with a couple thousand miles left on the clock. I didn't even notice, they brought it to my attention and said they would replace them while I was there.

I was always told brakes are a courtesy if they're not worn out. My dealership responded to my report of rear brakes squeaking, by removing and reinstalling the pads on the front because that's where they heard the squeak. Stupid and I wasn't going to argue.
What's funny is they've been squeaking for 3+ years and I don't even care anymore, when initially it really bothered me! ![]() |

No it does not my rear pads had about 1k miles left and they did it under warranty no problems. Mine is an 09 with 44k miles.

I took mine in for a tire bulge yesterday and they just asked me if I wanted the rear brakes done while I was there. I was surprised by rear brakes wearing out at ~34k, but whatever.

I had the rear brakes replaced under warranty on my 09' with only 20K on her.
Didn't even notice a dash warning to the fact - I was in for other warranty service and they replaced them at the same time. I though it was funny that rear brakes would wear before front - as usually the fronts do more of the 'work'. Apparently, with the way BMW uses the rear brakes for DSC and such - they tend to wear faster...
