Missing the intake duct - i mess up

Hi guys, I installed my DCI few months ago and I recently just realized my car is running without the intake duct. The reason is because the guy at the auto repair shop didn't put it back on after he uninstalled the stock air filter box. And I wasn't aware that the intake induct, which I thought it is just needed for the stock intake, was supposed to be there with the DCI. I had already thrown away the stock air filter box and the intake duct. Although the DCI is running without any problem even without the intake duct, I'm actually curious if the intake duct would cause any effect to the engine in terms of performance and longevity. Do you guys think it is worth for me to order the intake duct and put it back on? By the way, I have the DD V2 vented hood, and the left vent on the hood is actually nearby the DCI area. Would the vent help suck the air into the DCI?

What is the part # of the missing screw (shown in the picture) that connect the air deflector and the intake duct?

The difference is negligible without the duct.

One thing is without the duct your engine bay will be noticebly dirtier. However, with any DCI this becomes more apparent anyway.

I'm sure if your browse the for sale threads that someone out their has a stock duct, actually referred to as "snorkel" on this platform, at times.

If you have any questions about the injen let me know that is another feasible option for a cleaner look

The intake duct with DCI is useless... The OEM intake duct works off pressure/vaccum in which when you install the DCI is out the window..
So if your gonna keep your DCI, the stock intake ducts is useless.

Go grab a K&N recharge kit and clean those filters..

IF you had aftermarket air intake scoops in conjunction with the oem intake duct, then it would be useful

I was in the same situation. I think I paid 20-30 bucks or something for it at the dealer. I'll try and look up the part number for you.

I look up the part at ECS tuning, it is almost 80 dollars shipped.

Pressure washing your engine is generally a BAD idea. Good way to get water in places it shouldn't, also an easy way to kill an alternator. Ask me how I know...

Thanks for the link.

I agree with it 100% pray on degreaser goes a huge way. I usually use the purple degreaser in a spray bottle works like a charm.

It will bring more air and more ambient air into the engine bay by the DCI, if setup correctly. More ambient air the DCI are sucking in the better. This in turn may help lower IAT's and help performance. But we are talking slightly, and only at speed where air is actually entering in enough volume in the area of the DCI.

As you can tell the stock snorkel has no scoops, like i mentioned before, it relies on pressure/vaccum to suck air in and to the air box.
So without scoops, the oem snorkel with DCI is useless anyways. Snorkle with scoops and DCI is a good combine. I personally run it and like it.

As you mention the air scoops and snorkel will bring in more ambient air into the engine bay, I guess you are assuming that DCI are breathing in hot air without them. But doesnt FMIC functions to lower the temperature of the engine? So even if the DCI are breathing in hot air, won't the FMIC still cool down the hot air that engine is taking? Then that makes breathing in more cold air totally pointless?
