She noticed the damage instantly, however, the Michelin Pilot Super Sports apparently function just like runflats with 0 air in them. No sparks, fortunately. I'm beginning to think RFT's are just marked up lo-pros.

She didn't take a photo of the pothole and doesn't even exactly remember what exit is near within less than 5 miles. I'm getting the feeling my insurance is going to have to take care of this entirely. At least I opted for a small deductible...

Just wanted to updated this. The collision shop is estimating $10,000 + to fully repair everything damaged as a result of this pothole. Fortunately, I've got good insurance, but to those of you who may just be rocking liability, let my experience be a lesson to how costly these cars can be from seemingly small accidents. All I've got to pay now is a $250 deductible.

Holy shit! I'm sorry but how do you not see a pot hole big enough to do damage like that?

That's crazy! Yes full coverage is amazing, I hit a deer and did 5k in damage and only had to pay my $500 deductible

I have a "mod" coverage on my insurance policy that pays out up to 5k to repair/replace aftermarket parts as long as I can provide receipts showing original purchase prices. I wonder if that would cover my aftermarket wheels, or if something like this would filed as a collision claim for me?

Cheer OP, glad this is working out for you!

wow...10k +...thts huge. What other things are damaged? I wouldnt blame your wife for the pothole...anyone can hit it. you really dont have time and space to avoid it.
potholes can be nasty, my older Ford once hit a pothole on the edge and the tire, shock absorber, steering arm were damaged. To my surprise the wheel (Dynamic..dont know from where) was 100% intact, just needed balancing.

Pot hole? Was there like 100's of other cars pulled over on the side of the road also?

Insurrance should cover that.

Judging by the state of that wheel, I'm not that surprised there's 10k worth of damage. There must have been a load of things that got broken with that force.

How anyone, woman or not, could drive on after hitting something that hard is beyond me.

I guess common sense is lost in some...

The lip could have caught with the asphalt edge of the pothole before it took the plunge, causing the damage.

my buddy killed 2 wheels and 2 tires when road workers failed to properly cover the holes on the road. i think he got tired dealing with city morons. my dad damaged his truck suspension long time ago, was easier to get compensated from insurance company though.
