Question yellow engine light on related to engine oil ?

So today when I started my car, the yellow engine light came on, and I read the manual and searched on the forums and realized that there are endless possibilities of what it could be.

However, I found that when I went to the check service screen, the engine oil picture was in red and below it had a minus -1400km. So i realized it could have been engine oil related problems. I decided to check the level of engine oil i have left in the car and it said my engine oil level was okay.

can anyone chime in on this ? my warranty expired recently and I hope i don't need a trip to the dealer!

Well should get your oil changed to start things off.

since you are out of warranty I would suggest you invest in OBDII cable, a laptop if you don't have one, i got my cable from ebay for about 25 bucks, and download INPA/bmwsoftware made by smooth1 so that you can read any codes with your laptop.

Will help save you trips to the dealership
