Plasti Dip grille and other parts

I'm wanting to go black on grille and other chrome trim. Anybody ever use plasti dip to do this? There is no way this is hard just wondering if it works.

I plastidipped my grille, my rims, and badges. I even dipped my friend's porsche rims and badges.

Tried to dip his hood but didn't like it so we just peel it off.

It's pretty easy stuff. Clean the area, spray a few layers (allow time to dry between coats), and then peel away the over spray. Easy if you remove the grilles first.

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I take it, the black matte finish is the color?

The most common one you get from home depot is matte black

You can get different colors online. And I heard that you can even custom order a color you like directly from the company that makes plastidip

Good job with that plasti dip. It can be used anywhere really and the best part is that it is so easy to undo or redo. I have even used it to see what a painted diffuser would look like. It made a big difference and now I will have it painted gloss black.

and i'm assuming you wouldn't sand the grill (like some of the other tutorials) since it can peel off, correct?

Correct, just clean, dry, and spray.

Oh yeah, don't sand anything. I'm interested in doing rims also. I have saw Someone who has done a diffuser and it looked great. I'm going to do my emblem on trunk lid and the trim around windows. Oh, I found the spray at Lowes for $6 a can, by the way.

I plastidipped mine, but just be sure you don't do your coats too heavy or you will get runs.

Good to know, thanks. Has anybody done trim around the windows, not the pillars. Was in process of making them off but stopped cause it was a pain. Has anybody had any luck taking them off instead?

Its pretty straight forward just dont overspray and let it run and also make sure you let it dry and do not wash you car for about 24 hours after
