Just buy the AE exhaust and call it good. I'll even take a video showing how loud and pleasant it is with AR catless, intake, and FMIC. Those combined have made the AE exhaust even louder and at WOT there is nothing that sounds as sexy.
Sorry, my inline 6 will not sound like a fart can. The guy with CPE and the HPF Gen2 sounds OK, but it still sounds too loud and way to raspy. Here's a newer vid from AE. Last edited by Wes335XI; 09-29-2012 at 11:48 AM. |

Ive wondered why i havent see many people post reviews with catless dps and the HPF gen 2 exhaust. I know e90 post represents a percentage of the BMW mod population but it still bugs me sometime that i rarely see anyone give feedback on it..
I wonder if the sound is just that obnoxious that a very few have this particular setup or is that many have this setup just not many people post reviews.. I dunno.. whatever. Just my random thought.. I guess i will see for myself when i get it installed! lol.... |

Pretty sure that's also HPF GEN I which doesn't really help either...

Gen 2 has a resonator that's supposed to reduce drone and rasp... Which is why I'm looking for videos of it paired with catless downpipes... I wanna see if it can be loud without rasp

I did the test video and can tell you it needs a high flow cat or another resonator because it does get a little rasp through mid range. For daily driver it could be a little overwhelming and I opted to stay with my stock secondary cat-back because I didn't want the rasp sound throughout the interior of the car like this exhaust does. But if you can live with the noise, it's one nice setup. But for the price, you probably could have a custom shop do one for less that would sound just as good or better.

its only the drone thats bothering...i think the above poster is talking about drone and not rasp. there is absolutely 0 rasp and sounds awesome...wish there was another exhaust out there just like this one with the drone above say 3.5k rpms.
this exhaust sounds awesome and isnt even all that loud until you go wot, but the drone will drive you insane right at 2500 to 3000 rpms...and trust me it will drive you crazy i needed ear plugs lol. but this was my favorite sounding and i have heard almost all of them.
