But in the end your are right, I dont go WOT on every on ramp or traffic light like a majority of 335 owners on this forum. Just not my style of driving. I dont believe in "the harder you drive it, the better it will run" motto that seems to go around.

I'm not saying drive like Mario Andretti to the grocery store, but every now and then find an interstate on ramp, floor the mofo, redline the tach and let her breathe a bit for 10 or 20 miles!

Whats funny is I just had an argument with my girlfriend about my car because she was like you take care of your car like it's human. Then went on how I need to not worry it's just a car people don't care about cars, I'm like if u drove mine you'd care she's likes it's just a car I don't care I'll trash it. So yeah a lot of people don't care what they're driving.. Although my car is clean In and out, I treat it poorly probably by driving it like a maniac messing with the paddle shifts constantly, redlining it, taking corners fast, but I guess I maintain it properly too though.

I really don't think it's just these "rich kids". That contributes to the problem, but I don't think it is the problem.
I think the problem has been said multiple times already here - there's a different mentality from the enthusiast than the daily driver. The enthusiast not only cares about how they care for the car, but they care and enjoy driving. Not only does the general public not care about driving (they still text, drink, smoke, eat, and do everything short of drive), so they don't care about their cars either. It's really sad and pathetic. People should enjoy driving and take general care |

I take care of every car I've owned and always will. I paid money for it, after all. I'm not naive enough to think that things won't happen to my car but when they do, I take care of them. I've always thought this about my cars: "take care of it and it will take care of you."
By the way, to the poster who drives like a granny...you're doing a disservice to that engine. It's one thing to say you don't go WOT but then another to come back and say that "you hope we know" it's bad for the engine since it's cold. It's bad for your engine to repeatedly take such short trips. I also don't understand why you'd tune a car if you have no intention of opening it up. To each his own, I guess. |

This is the one reason I can't wait to get my bike running so I don't have to park on campus anymore. People are so inconsiderate.

I'm a pretty slow driver, never really gun it. I will, however, accelerate to 5k RPMs every once in a while to blow out any accumulated carbon on the valves.

Funny story. I always park way out of the way to avoid dings and was doing great for 6 months or so then I had a lunch meeting with a client one day and he saw me park so followed me over and parked next to me. After a good lunch he gets back to his car and BANG, his door swung open from a wind gust and gave my car it's first door ding (he knows I'm a car nut). He looked over with a smile and shrug and I said no worries bud, your business over the last couple years paid for the car. We had a good laugh. He brings up the door ding every time i see him. Lol.
But at the end of the day, wash it, wax it, vacuum it, maintain it, and know that it won't ever stay cherry if you drive it. Just do your best.

I'm a student, and a car enthusiast but honestly I treat my car like crap. It's always dirty, there's about an inch of brake dust on the wheels, there's dried dog slober on the back windows, I drive it like I stole it 95% of the time, school books and empty monster cans everywhere.
...On the other hand I love it to death, when I do wash it it's always a hand wash, it always brings a smile to my face, I secretly talk to it when no one is around, I always make sure maintenance is up to date, and when my dog rides in it I make sure every inch of the back seat is covered. ![]()

Damn right! Once I accumulate a couple more I'll get them fixed at the same time. It's is nice though, the people who park on either side of me in my garage at the office have an understanding. They are both car guys and we are very carfull opening doors.

So let's get to why? You're lazy, don't care, don't pay for it or what? Just curious. My friend is an Orthopaedic Surgery resident, and he treats his car like shit because he has no time to care for it, let alone care for himself. There's trash inside, shit everywhere. Although I can't stand it, I can kind of understand it. So why don't you care about the cleanliness and maintaining your car? |
