Judging by the placement, I would say it's aftermarket. The cold drink switch is inside the arm rest (at least in my '08 335i e90). And all that does it route a little A/C to keep it cool.
Then again, it's possible that at the time of your build, BMW hadn't put the switch in the armrest yet. This could be one of the first models with the cooler, and the switch was placed there as a "quick fix".

ESPN monday night count down "C'Mon man"
If I knew I would not have asked the forum for help. The switch does nothing that I can tell either with the car on or off.

Could be aftermarket heated seats, is there a switch on the passenger side too?

Nope just the driver side. My car has the heated OEM seats with buttons on the dash.

My 2007 335i does not have said switch -- Have you pushed the button? Maybe it is the James Bond ejector seat for those 'extreme' driving situations

You will have to ask the CPO dealer as obviously since you asked the question it does nothing when pushed. I will say that I had aftermarket heated seats placed in a Tahoe a few years back and that rocker is a dead ringer for the one they used...but you also said you had OEM seat heaters....... If it really was an older couple's car maybe the switch controlled the in-car O2 for his breathing tube.......fun to guess anyway..... |

this is too funny.
![]() really wierd, can't wait to find out what it is. Maybe its their car but their grandson drove it? Maybe he rigged something up? Maybe its a switch to turn off his BlueTooth hearing aid, so he doesn't have to listen to his wife. ?? ![]()

Well thanks for all of the suggestions if nothing else I have learned that its not OEM and had few laughs. I will just have to trace the wires this weekend and see where they go. I will post back in this thread and let you guys know what the hell this button controls.
Would be funny if it did kill the rear plate lamps.

It deploys spikes from a hidden compartment when you are being chased. Other than that, clueless.

Did you tuen "on" the switch AND lights and then walk around the outside of the car?
... maybe they are rear fog lights...

Looks to me like a laser jammer kill switch. Did you look in the grilles to see if there are laser jammers installed
