To my latin American brothers, I agree in our countries we have extremely wealthy people that account for 1%-5% of the population. The vehicle of choice is the Landscruiser, Prado, Nissan Patrol and other off road vehicles because of road conditions. Those same individuals love, Ferrari, Bimmers and Mercedes. Most people that we knew back home had awesome cars paid in cash and for 30%-50% sales tax compare to America but not everyone has that kind of wealth. So in reality we have a lot of poverty.![]() To my American brothers, Like myself there are many Central & South Americans that appreciate everything Americas has done for us. Also remember that every country including ours have very proud and patriotic people. US did alot for Nicaragua and I for one gave 6 good years of service in my new country's military. I also went to school in America (Legally) and have done very well for myself and my family. What I love about this forum is that we all appreciate bimmers. It a great brand and it awesome to see BMW in my homeland of Nicaragua. If I lived there now I would probably have a daily driver like a Prado and a going out "nice area" car like an M.![]()

People think that because they have purchased a M3 in the US, they are the top of the crop. With taxation and greediness that we have in Brazil, a 335i nowadays is more like US$ 170K, so we are in Ferrari and Porsche (Carrera 4S, 911 Turbo) territory when doing a direct comparison with the US market. If you see a South American (specially Brazilians) with a BMW, be sure that they are on a different tax bracket than you.
P.S.: I currently do not have a BMW, I have traded mine for an Audi TTS, I got a 2011, used, with 450 miles on the clock, price tag US$ 151K, if were bought brand new it would get out of the dealership for US$ 182 K. Plus the financing here is some ridiculous 25% APR, so I had to fork all the money upfront. |

I can tell ya that in Venezuela (South America) the only BMW that you see on the road are the older models. The current administration is only allowing certain made of car into the country and purely becuase the administration has bad relation where those epsecific vehicles are made. For Example Nissan, VW, Mitsu, and Jeeps and only a certain models of them not the entire line of vehicles. If you find a new BMW which I am sure there are, is mainly because the owner is rich and has the resources to get them. The same goes for any other high end vehicle.

I was in Venezuela until november last year, and so many high end cars, quite a few bimmers all due to the oil I expect. although the vast majority are 1970's North American rust buckets.
