Good post and sorry if I didnt follow all the way.

I just got the FSC code from the dealer for free(dont ask me how) and now all I need is this USB stick with north american map update. Where can I order that from or download it straight?

I have a 2009 335i (CIC pro) so update via DVD is out so I am guessing only way is to use the USB method described above?

Single USB instructions

In order to perform the update via a single USB stick, you'll need to do the following:

1. Obtain .iso file(s) for the maps version you want (North American Premium 2012 has 3 .iso files, for instance). Allegedly they are available for download if you search enough.

2. Get a 32GB USB stick and make sure it's formatted for FAT32 (mine already was, so I just deleted the vendor provided files/utilities that came on it).

3. Use something like MagicDisc to mount the 3 .iso files. Each .iso contains a config.nfm and pkgdb folder. Copy those two items from disc 1 onto the USB drive.

4. On the USB drive, rename pkgdb to pkgdb1.

5. Copy just the pkgdb folder from Disc 2 onto the USB drive, and after it completes, rename pkgdb to pkgdb2.

6. Copy just the pkgdb folder from Disc 3 onto the USB drive, and after it completes, rename pkgdb to pkgdb3.

7. Now, rename pkgdb1 to pkgdb on the USB drive. So you should have the following in the root folder of the USB drive:

pkgdb
pkgdb2
pkgdb3
config.nfm

8. With that being the case, take the USB drive to your car, turn it on (ignition is not necessary) and go to Navigation. Insert the USB drive into the USB port in the glove box. After about 10 seconds, it should start the update process.

9. In about 20 - 30 minutes, it will prompt for USB device 2. Take the USB drive out, put it back in your computer and rename two things. Change pkgdb to pkgdb1, then change pkgdb2 to pkgdb.

10. Reinsert the USB drive into the USB port in the glove box. It should continue updating.

11. In about 10 minutes, it will prompt for USB device 3. Take the USB drive out, put it back in your computer and rename two things. Change pkgdb to pkgdb2, then change pkgdb3 to pkgdb.

12. Reinsert the USB drive into the USB port in the glove box. It should continue updating and finish the process within about 15 minutes.

13. Once the process completes and CIC restarts, you can remove the USB drive.

Thanks,
Jason

CIC Map Update Enquiry

Hi Luster,

I am interested in purchasing your 2012 Australian Maps for CIC.

I have a 2007 E93 335i, however I have purchased a CIC retrofit kit which I am having installed in the next few weeks, however it has come pre-installed with Euro maps which I need to change.

You said the maps are linked to the VIN number however the CIC retrofit kit I have purchased is non OEM and uses an emulator, will this cause any issues with installing the maps?

Also I am new to this fourm and can't message you directly yet, are you able to PM instead?

Cheers,

Brendan

I assume you're trying to update the North America maps which are contained on 3 DVDs. Have a look at the following post (and the rest of the thread) for alternative info on how to install NA maps from USB(s)...

Thanks bcoz,
Here's what i did:
using ISO2USB application i opened the ISO file to USB 8GB key.
I used the same steps for all 3 USB keys, so each USB key carries the following files:
pkgdb folder and config.nfm file.

I also tried to do this using powerISO and got the same error.

What am i doing wrong???

Thanks guys for all the help.

I have burnt the disc for a 2006 E92 335i coupe on a MacBookPro.
No joy as the Nav system quotes" Please insert Navigation disc into DVD drive".... Burnt it twice. Is is a formatting issue?

HELP? AARRRGGGHH.

Assuming you have the right maps/ISO for your nav system (Professional?), then try the following...

http://gpsunderground.com/forum/bmw/...tml#post113951

EDIT: This relates to the old CCC DVD-based navigation for cars built before Sep 2008.
