Help please: ZHP knob to replace 335is knob?????

So I ordered and received ZHP from Tischer and tried to install last night. It seems as though the boot may be connected. Any ideas on this?

That looks like the M-Tech knob rather than ZHP, but taking a quick look around, they do appear to ship with shift boot (unlike ZHP), so they may not be meant to come apart. Why not just install it as-is?

Just push on the knob and then push down the boot all the way. I don't think they are meant to be separated. You already did the hard part getting the old knob off.

Hey guys- I just realized my post may be confusing.

The knob and boot in the picture are oem from the 335is.

I actually ordered a ZHP knob to replace the 335is knob, but wanted to retain the original boot. I was informed that the "non-lighted" shifters had knobs that would just pop off and I could pop on the zhp knob while retaining the boot.

Has anyone done this conversion? Also anyone know how the stock 335is knob weight compares to the zhp?

I have a ZHP knob from my last car and looked at putting it on my current one, but yes, it appears the knob and boot are one piece on the m-sport so I gave up on that idea.

OP, you need a new boot if you want the ZHP knob.

I have a ZHP knob and I love it. The weight feels so right in my palm. Go boot-less with the ZHP knob to see if you want to keep it and buy a boot.

That is a good idea I think I'll do that.

Angry booted!

i've had the weighted zhp knob in several of my prior BMW's. they are great! i ordered one for my E92 m-sport car which comes equipped with the same one-piece knob/boot perforated set up as the 335is cars.

i pulled off the stock knob with very little effort (Hulk genes) and started to install the BMW boot that i bought to go with the knob. damn! they sent me an E46 boot which does not fit! i'll get the correct boot and post pics later.

the m sport knob(your oem knob/boot) is the e90 equivalant of the e46 zhp knob. i just replaced my zhp knob with the e90 m sport knob/boot assembly. i found the weight very similar, and prefer the perforated and squared shape of the m sport knob.

the zhp knob is great! but i found an even greater deal on the msport knob and handbrake handle that i could not resist. damn craigslist.

looking on ebay, there seems to be a few cost effective solutions... although the aftermarket boots may have questionable quality. i am certain you will find a nice used oem boot if you keep looking.
