Alpina B3 Bi Turbo two days pampering!

The Alpina has had two days pampering at CleanDetail , where the bodywork, glass and Alpina Piano gloss black trim has had G3 Glass Coat (Ceramic Paint Sealant) applied and an engine bay clean!

CleanDetail own report here

I also like the effect on the mats nice touch!

Including the beautiful engine bay.

This particular Coupe is quite unique as there are less than 50 B3 Bi Turbo e92 (out of a total 270) were imported to the UK and this car being the part of the last 3 that were imported back on 2009 before the B3s Bi Turbo were introduced (this being the e92 facelift version). Plus some Alpina Bespoke interior extras which is the benefit of an Alpina

And to finish off the body work with Swissvax Crystal Rock wax for the finishing touch!

I was impressed with Nick's professionalism, good secure premises, he thoroughly checked the car before I left the Alpina with him. He provide be a debrief after the first day’s work and kept me up to date on Facebook on progress by adding photos which I was very impressed with, a nice value added service!

G3 Glass Coat (Ceramic Paint Protection) provides a 5 year warranty so even if it provides only 2 years I will be satisfied.

I would recommend Clean Detail to members of the forum!

Have always fancied an Alpina but B3 Bi-turbo coupes are about as thick on the ground as the proverbial rocking horse droppings; lovely looking car, suitably envious!

Dare I say the thinking man M3! Why:

Max output (kW/hp/rpm) 360
Max torque (Nm/rpm) 500
Top speed (mph) 177
Acceleration 0-62 mph (sec) 4.7
Urban (mpg) 20.1
Extra-urban (mpg) 39.2
Road Tax £220!!!
Weight 1560kg (M3 1675kg)

Main spec updates
Lower compression Mahle pistions, and reprogramed software boost pressure 1:1 bar with 9.4:1 compression.

Re-programed gearbox software provides less than 100 millisecond upshifts under full load, In manual mode the Alpina software holds set gear regardless to rev as per manual box.

Alpina replace shocks, coil springs, bespoke rollbar and exhaust system + plus interior modifications, e.g. instrument cluster, bespoke trim options (optional!).

That will be for the B3s which is the based on same engine but tuned even more giving off 400 bhp including better air intake and exhaust system, plus further software updates.

As Alpina are classed as a low volume car manufacture (not a tuner), the Road Tag classification for the B3 as ‘PLG’ Private Light Goods’

Sometimes you can get the tax system to work in your favour

Absolute beautiful example, stunning car. I would also be interested in what you paid for this as it looks like they have done a great job.

I also regularly detail my Alpina, however some jobs are best left to professionals, such I would not feel confident in using a rotary polisher and the application of the Ceramic Paint Protection (G3 Glass Coat) which is only available to professional detailers. My wife tells me I spend more on the Alpina than on her, she calls the Alpina my mistress.

Tip for using a rotary, buy a scrap boot lid or bonnet from a scrappy. Practice on that. It isnt as scary as people make out.

Oh and i feel your pain about the Mrs lol
