Shitty experience at German Swedish Auto Service, Springfield VA.

To make it plain and simple, I've had quite a shitty week. This is the latest happened. Went to install these brand new tires and the tire shop managed to get a screw in the tire.
No way that I'll be paying for the full service and I'm demanding a new tire, not a patch!!!!
Just really want to vent...FFFFFFFKKKKKKK

How the heck did they do that? NO WAY in the world accept a patch, new tire because that's what you paid for. Sao malucos!

Terrible.

But in all fairness, I wouldn't say that I would hold it against the installer unless they failed to take the appropriate course of action to remedy the issue once you brought it to their attention.

Sorry about your bad week.

When did you notice the screw? And you're sure it was the shop that did that?

Tire Rack recommended installer scratched all 4 cast aluminum wheels

If it had been me, I would have refused the car. I took it back to them later and they could not repair the damage. Caveat Emptor.

@AddictedToBavarian:I have no idea how they did this. Possibly in the shop? possibly when they pulled it out of the shop to park outside. Sao mais que malucos, sao ums abestados!!!

@FormerRotor:Of course I put full blame on the installer. They kid try to tell me it was not their fault. I ask him plainly "Then whose fault it it, mine!!!??"

@bmw246: Thank you, they are brand new VMR 710's gunmetal.

@BOBKUR and dd243372: I can't believe you guys still think the installer didn't do it. Alright, I get a call, car's ready. I have someone drive me over there. I get there and it's raining. Concerned about them scratching the rims during install, I go straight to the car, check all rims (wasn't really checking the tires). When I get to the last tire I spot the nail, good thing it was in a visible spot. Man I'm so pisseddd, imagine if I had driven the car home like that!?

I did refuse to take the car. There was no way I was going to take that car back with the tire like that! Damn kid at the counter offered that they could fix it (i.e.. patch) even though it was the first thing I told him I would not accept, I want a new tire!

Yeah, for what reason would they put a screw in the tire? I was sure this thread was going to be about scratched rims, as bad shops do that all the time.

I dropped the vehicle off and did not touch it since. I did not even get the keys from the kid because I spotted the damage as soon as I got there (thank God I was not in a hurry). I've heard about the horror stories of bad tire shops scratching rims. Which is why I searched for the tire shop throughly. The shop's name begins with German, they specifically deal with German cars. And it's also the reason I went out in the rain to check the rims as soon as I got there.

find it hard to believe that occurred from the time it was in the shop to the time it rolled out to the parking lot. My money is on the fact that they took the car for a quick joyride. Since you probably weren't around anyways.

So, first off mistakes happen. It was probably a screw on the floor of the shop that the tire picked up (it looks like a trim screw). Had they noticed it before you, I guarantee that they would have fixed the tire with a plug and patch and you'd never had known the difference. I'd have them plug and patch the tire, which is a proper repair for this type of damage, and give you free, or at least a discount, on the tire installation. Having a screw stuck in the tread (are you sure it punctured the tire carcass?) and properly repaired is not going to degrade the performance, longevity, or reliability of the tire.

As far as the rims, well thatís a different issue. Believe me, the rims will not look new in a few months or years, so Iím not sure why it will be an issue for you. The rims are going to get scratched at some point, trust me on that.

Sweet! I have the VMR VB3 in Hyper Black (I believe, came on the car). I get more compliments on my wheels than on the car!

Good luck with resolution. Remember that the shop got to be Tire Rack recommended because they got recommended. Let them know you will communicate your experience to Tire Rack.

Fellow BrazilianBimmer, I'm Brazilian too.
I'm sure it was not good what happened, but at least you were lucky to find that before taking the car out.

I wish they replace this tire, this is your right... so keep fighting for that.

Please keep us posted, please notify TireRack about that.

Boa Sorte!

This thread is stupid, all most people will see is "shitty experience TIRE RACK".

Not one mention of the whole name of the shop, address, etc. . .

Officially deeming that the event described did not occur since you have NO facts. . .

Only fact is that there is a whole lot of

I appreciate the kind words.
Yes, this happened at German Swedish Auto Service. The owner's name is Bob Drye. I work with customer service and their customer service so far has been horrible, at least from his assistant/receptionist. I have not been able to talk to Bob directly yet.
Just pissed about this, if it had happened to you maybe you wouldn't worry.
