I've lived in jersey city for years.. There are some bad parts but thats when you get more towards bergen and ocean ave side. Incase your wondering where that is, its the eastern part of the city. Both blocks run parallel to JFK Blvd.
Liberty State Park is a nice spot for a meet and its easy to find. Downtown is nice as well but the roads aren't perfect and parking can suck. Another option is Bayonne, just south of JC. They have a pretty nice park there as well and is only about 5 min away.
