12.6 mpg ? Is that normal
12.6 mpg ? Is that normal
I have a 2006 325i, on my dash board it says 12.6 l/100km. Is that another way of saying that I'm doing 12.6mpg ? Let me know |

It means you are burning 12.6 liters of fuel for every 100km you drive. It works out to be about 18.7mpg which is still really poor for a 325i, unless you are always stuck in traffic.

It's always been a constant 12.6l it never changes, is there something wrong with my car. I only drive my car in the city, so I don't drive it like a maniac. Is it based of how I drive the car ?

It's a function on traffic (city vs highway) and how hard you drive your car. If shows your consumption to date. You can reset the meter and see if it changes . I do a lot of stop and go traffic in the city especially rush hour and I average 13.5 litres / 100 km.

Normal values in L/1000km should be around 10.5-11. That's 22 to 24 mpg. Lower values are anomalous, but not impossible if you drive aggressively or in heavy traffic. Under 18mpg is not normal, whatever driving condition. |

You're not sure if you reset it correctly??? Did it go back to 0.00 (or, I believe, ---)? If it still reads the same... then you certainly did not! Just hold that button down, baby, and don't be shy!

ok this time I'm 100% sure I did it right. it still reads the same, the only thing that changed was my km's my car use to be at 102k now its 64k. what's going on, I saw a check mark beside the reset after holding it down so I assumed it worked but it didn't. it still says 18.6mpg

A check mark by reset? While MPG is showing on the dash display, push and hold the "BC" button on the turn signal stalk and it goes to 0 or the current MPG if your driving.
