Yeh fmic and CAI are supporting mods, not power mods. Dp's I could feel but only just. For power tune and meth
Fair enough, have tune, dp , fmic and cai , so much for the blurb on the dinan and hpf web sites about power increases

I keep saying no meth , but as they say, never say never

The dci wouldnt have cost that much tho right?

As for the fmic it definately wont be a waste of $, but BFYB it doesn't appear to be the best mod hey?

Hmm a bolt on diff can be had for $1500 landed, I wouldn't have thought it would be $1200 in labour though... hmmm

Rule of thumb:

$2k and maybe change for an LSD when bolted

$4-5k for welded

FMIC isn't really good BFYB in terms of peak power but it does help keep the power curve from dropping off... It's definitely a good mod and recommended for this reason that it keeps the power on for longer.

I bought dinan CAI - looks the nicest very smick carbon fibre , picked up second hand from Justin at Advan - it came off his 135 so had some issues when installing on 335 , but nothing insurmountable , though its still not 100% as to how i would like it. trying to get some Dinan OE mounting brackets to get to 100% fitment.

I have now noticed though after driving car has more pull at top end of rev range , i assume as its breathing better ? so not a total waste

I've had a Quaife in my 130i, and broke a Drexler in my 135i. I'm currently running a Wavetrac in my 135i.

Quaife: I was happy with it and it was only $700 to install (Precision Gearbox Repairs, Brisbane). The 130i had a bolted ring gear so it would be similar in labour to a bolted 135i/335i.

Drexler: Clutch type that needed maintenance. After the first fluid change (at 20,000) the fluid was black, and the diff started making noises. Probably should ahve changed teh diff fluid sooner, but its hard in that car! The diff was busted at the drag strip quickly soon after. The authorised dealer could repair it, but I wasn't keen on using it again because there is only one dealer in Australia (Sydney) and maintence is expensive! (4k in repairs + shipping costs). I felt like the traction was better compared to the wavetac - even though I was running the 3.46 gear ratio (cf 3.08 stock).

WaveTrac: Reasonably priced (I purchased the entire pumpkin, which was $3500USD shipped) and it took another few hundred to switch it in. Low maintenance and strong! It is noisy when you put it into gear though.

Finned Backing Plate: If you manufacture a reasonably priced finned backing plate (with drain hole), I'd be interested. But there are a few different sized pumpkins, and they would all required different sized backing plates.
