I have an N54. In the beginning there were so many issues, all solved now by the way. I wouldn't worry about buying an N54. in my opinion best car I ever had and still in love.

Basically sound motor, has its issues like any other. At least the issues are mainly fuel system related, not something fundamental like, say, head bolts, or block alloy material. Wouldn't even think twice about choosing an N54 335 over the 328.
