HA!

looks like your weather trim for the top of one of your fenders under the hood.

Yep - should be right near your coolant reservoir.

Seems like as good a place as any to ask this question. Is there any way to clean the intercooler without removing the bottom shield? When I replaced my OEM one it was pretty dirty due to my exterminating.

40* tip with an electric pressure washer while cleaning my car. Works good, no damage.

I thought about trying something like that, but was worried about bending the fins. I'll try that on my removed OEM just to confirm.

I do something similar and also have used compressed air, but find that a fair amount of crap just ends up clogged in back side of intercooler.

Remove the IC and clean it out with compressed air from the REAR. Tap it firmly but gently against a hard, smooth surface (such as indoor concrete) to dislodge all of the sand that gets in there. Clean the dirt and scum build-up on the outside with diluted heavy degreaser. That stuff eats aluminum when full strength, so I usually dilute about 2:1 water/degreaser. Nothing short of a steam cleaning at a machine shop will get an old IC looking new again, but it will sure as hell be a lot cleaner with just degreaser and a soft brush. Temps may improve, too! I do this to racecar radiators, oil coolers, intercoolers, etc all the time at least once a season.

good point about cleaning it, but i have ETS 5" waiting to be installed so i don't care much about cleaning the stock one...but i agree it was a pain in the butt to take out that weather trim..i also tried to clean it but without taking the entire bottom cover i don't think there is an easier way.
