Thumbs up Euro Air Box

I just installed my euro air box. This has to be one of the best and easiest mods you can do. I installed the K&N Filter instead of using the factory one. The car runs MUCHO better. Plus it feels smoother also. I got the air box from ECS Tuning. The service from them was excellent. I took the wife out for dinner and a test drive. I'm kind of partial to K&N products and was waiting for them to put out an intake kit. To me, there isn't much more that I could have done to make the improvement that I have. I am definitely a happy boy.

Well, it's still better than the 700+ clams they are getting for the Perfomance Intake setup with basically the same performance gains - only difference is you get a CF upper snorkel for the $700 price tag...

Plus the fact that with the Performance Intake setup you still have a 2-piece airbox deal which means removing the entire airbox to change out the filter. With the Euro setup, all you need to do is remove the lid with a couple screws from the top to change out/clean filter

While I got my Euro Airbox for $50 (price of shipping when doing an even exchange with Euro member), another $90 for a CF upper snorkel + $100 for a CF airbox lid cover - Total $240 - I would have gladly paid the ECS price for a Euro box over the Performance version

I had to cut the original euro filter to get the front plate for Pipercross filter modification.
This is how restrictive the original filter is:

This is cross section of the Pipercross:

I just got the BMW PI and PE and had it installed @ Morristown BMW because they had a good deal for me + my BMW CCA discount. So the gains are better or the same as my BMW PI? Anyone confirm this?

I just intalled the Euro intake and you can definitely feel the difference. Throttle feels better and it revs freely. No real sound increase though.

I don't think the price was that bad. Considering I see the performance intake running anywhere between 700 to 900 dollars. It was easy to install, and a mechanic I am not. Plus, my car is still under warranty. I didn't alter the factory air box by doing the carbon delete. I just replaced it with another factory piece. I want to do an exhaust modification next. Don't know whether to go with the setup from Magnaflow, or go with the BMW system.

Does anyone have experience with the Euro air box switching from the stock euro paper to the K&N filter? I have the stock round paper filter in and am debating going to the K&N. Is it worth it?

K&N makes filter for euro box. Itís a direct swap. Look at my previous post how restrictive is the stock paper filter.

The difference between the euro box and the PI is, the size of the intake duct for the euro box is the same, but the PI has a bigger intake duct.

I think the stock intake duct size is the bottleneck, which is why the PI has a larger duct.

Originally I had K&N filter but I switched to Pipercross since it has better performance. Many race cars are using Pipercross.
