Tyres

My e90 is coming up to needing two new rear tyres. (255/40/17)

Currently i have bridgestone Potenza run flats at the moment, from what i have read run flats are pretty rubbish for handeling, noise and cost more but they will take a punchure thats the only up side i think.

I just need some recommendations on what other people have got and their rating.

Thanks

Mine are due soon as well, was going to keep RFT and go for Continental Sport Contact 5.

i plan to ditch the run flats.

on this forum (of which there are many many many many threads on this, you'd be well advised to do a search) the recommendations are typically, goodyear F1 asymmetric, Continental sport contact 3 / 5, Michelin Pilot Sports or Falken's if you're trying to save some money and dont mind a view from inside a ditch.

Between contis and falkens (in an aim to keep pockets guarded a little lol - although I assume saving cash now will only mean spending more later as I bet the wear on Falkens are more prominent when compared to Conti's?).. just guessing!

I'm planning to go for stretched tyres so yeah.. anyone else who has done stretched on 19s please come forward and share your specs... I'm on 19s (E92) and going for something diff to OEM

the contis will last longer yeah!! for the sake of maybe 10-15 a corner, they should last a fair whack longer. They are also less likely to leave you in a ditch

I guess run flats are best to stay away from and just get a can of tyre weld?

I would have RFT's on the front and non RFT's on the back, does it cause a big issue?

I wouldn't say Falkens are ditch finders, they grip better than the bridgestones that come with the car.

I would recommend going for Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. They are a little more than Falkens but grip brilliantly and retain a very oem steering feel.

They are very popular with the guys on M3 post but don't often get much of a mention here.

worth noting they are not a sports performance tyre though. Here they are not being compared to performance tyres, only other economy tyres. Those wont be anywhere near as grippy as a performance tyre.

www.reifen.com/en

German tyre retailers that ship to the UK. Never used them before but for certain tyres they seem nicely priced.

Forget about them, just buy cheaper from the UK.

Look on Lovetyres. Much cheaper than everywhere else on the internet, including Camskill.

Goodyear Eagle F1A2
Reifen: 542 (inc del which takes 7 working days
Camskill: 549 (inc del which takes 2 working days)
Lovetyres: 517 (inc del which is Next Day Delivery).

I just got supplied and fitted 2 x 225/35/19 and 2 x 255/30/19 Goodyear Eagle F1 A2 non runflats for 782 all in.

I no longer experience an earthquake when going over cats eyes...
