Two E92 Questions...
...short and sweet...
1) how easy is 'chrome line' exterior trim to replace for the usual M Sport black trim (plus cost estimate) 2) can heated seats be retrofitted to an LCI (10 plate) car

I can answer Q1 for ya buddy, I beleive that most people wrap the trim rather than replace and you can do this yourself or I think it shouldnt cost not much more than £100-£150'ish.

To replace the chrome trim is very expensive therefore as above wrap is the way to go. Would not tackle the job myself so factor in another 100 quid for someone doing the work.
Heated seats can be retro I'm sure but must be very costly. |

I often see full e92 interiors going on eBay and are often surprisingly cheap, or find car breakers in there advertising fresh new e92s / e92m3s to salvage parts from, if you have access to a van for collection and got sold of the seats this way it could be quite affordable.
As mentioned already definitely wrap the trim rather than replace. |

Cheers chaps. So, wrapping the way forward, thought that would be the response. How does it look wrapped - decent - or would it deteriorate after time??
I thought there would be a coding issue with the heated seats in addition to simply exchanging the seats??

I would expect the heated seats needs coding, I did read a thread about a year ago where someone retrofitted them and I think it was a costly procedure.
You need to run extra wiring to them from what I remember and may have issues sourcing the seats that have the correct functions that match the existing setup (full/half electric, lumbar/no lumbar) You would also need to add the buttons as I'm sure they will be just blanked out normally. |

It's about 600 for the retrofit including fitting the elements, replacing the climate control panel and coding. There's a vietnemese guy that does it - offers his services on ebay and does a very good job by all accounts ..
But this is obviously very spendy considering the initial costs - I'd recommend waiting for a car with the seats in the first place Rog!

I am going to wrap the chrome trim on my 330 so will let you know how easy/hard it is.
(family business is a printing company so can get hold of material or do it for you if you require) |
