Broken Xenon

Yesterday I noticed that my passenger side xenon lamp had a lot of condensation inside of it. Went to turn on the car and got a warning light for adaptive module failure and bulb out. Took it to the dealer and turns out that the tabs on the light are broken and the top cover on the light was loose causing moisture to build up. I guess all that water ended up shorting out the ballast and adaptive module. Any idea what could have caused this? Maybe hitting a pothole? According to my SA the cost to replace the light assembly is going to run around $1700. Anyone think I could go through my insurance for this?

That's what I was thinking about the insurance.

I was wondering if I can repair the tabs with a repair kit and just replace the ballast and adaptive module and see if that will work. I'm not sure if the water could have damaged anything else in the light

You can have them resealed. And the other things you mentioned, and that should work.
