well i used to get paid a whole Â£200 to be oncall for 50hrs in the week. Think Im in the lower end of the IT world....then again, I did just get out of working for Comet a few months before the administrators came in. That company sure knew how to squeeze every bit out of its employees for what it paid.

If your in a 'only person that can do the job' situation, then indeed negotiate hard!!

£300 for the whole weekend? If so, tell them to stick it. Would rather stay at home with the family.

Although my circumstances maybe different to your's as i work whatever hours i want to I think that time of year with the family can not be bought.

edit: I have been on call 24/7 for the last 5 years without pay but, thats the nature of the business i work in.
