It's the 'Warning: Trophy' light. Some kind of prize awaits you after you go another 700 miles. But seriously, it's the Service Requirements symbol however the manual is quite vague about it's purpose. I think it has to do with FOB info and only BMW can unlock the secrets behind that door.

If your car has around 29,000 miles on it, it probably refers to the upcoming 30k Inspection service.

But why not find out from your car? Simply go to "Service Requirements" in your manual & follow the instructions to read the Service Info on your iDrive or dash computer.

I have this same thing, but in RED. I am at 61250 miles, I think its for the 60k maintenance.

I have tried researching what they actually do for this maintenance, and if its worth it.

The owner's manual is not very clear what this symbol means.

From the Bentley Manual:

This is the "vehicle check" symbol. Items that should be checked include the following:

Horn, headlight flasher, hazard warning flasher, check operation
Instrument cluster and control lighting, blower, check operation
Lighting system (dome lights, glove compartment light, flashlight, trunk light, turn signals, hazard warning flasher, back-up lights, brake lights, license plate lights, check operation
Safety belts, check condition and function
Wipers, and washers check
Body, check for corrosion
Tires, check tread depth, wear pattern, condition, inflation pressure, correct pressure as necessary
Run-flat indicator initialize
Battery, check state of charge, charge as required
Power steering fluid, check fluid level
Airbags, inspect for torn covers, damage or attached stickers
Mirrors, inspect
Engine coolant, check level and concentration
Windshield washer, intensive cleaning system, check protection level, fluid level, top off if necessary
Brake system connections and lines, check for leaks, damage and correct positioning
Underbody (transmission, rear axle, fuel lines, exhaust system) check for damage, leaks and corrosion
Steering components, check for clearance, leaks, damage and wear
Road test, check for performance, braking, steering, suspension, noises

If you don't want to pay the dealer $10,000 to do this and want to do it yourself, you can reset the service by doing the following:

Close all doors, turn ignition on (accessory mode)
Make sure lower displays in cluster show clock and mileage
Press and hold trip odometer reset button for about 5 seconds until CBS (condition based service) icons begin to display in cluster. Release button.
Press turn signal lever BC button repeatedly to scroll through CBS icons
For each icon the word "reset?" is displayed. To reset a particular item, press and hold BC button. A small analog clock icon is displayed. When complete, the chosen CBS item is reset.
To insure that the reset was done, press BC button while looking at CBS reset icon. Acknowledgement of reset is shown with a check mark in a box.

Hope that helps.

It usually means taillight, blinker, license plate or marker light out but I'm sure it could mean others too even headlight.

Pretty much bulb out.

I've looked in various pdfs online, to include my own owner's manual, all to no avail. Anyone know what this one means by chance?

Looks somewhat similar to the "Particle Filter Fault" icon. Since it is in red, perhaps a filter is blocked or is scheduled for replacement.

Are there any the Check Control messages?

Come on! You know it's the warning for the catalytic filter fan failure.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm still a little confused because I really don't know much. Is it the catalyte converter itself? Does it have something to do with the O2 sensors perhaps? How dire is this problem that I have?

Thanks much in advance!

LOL, he was being sarcastic, there is no catalytic fan. The symbol means the onboard conditioned based sensor has determined your microfilter needs replacing. They are not too pricey, and are easily replaced.

Dude, sorry, I was really goofing with Tom K. Didn't mean to lead you astray. But really the symbol is referenced in the Owners Manual.
