A quick question for those of you that participated. Why exactly did the organizers set things up so you have to make a hard right before the starting cones? It seems like after both cars come out of that turn there is very little time to make sure you're lined up with your opponent correctly. Worse, if one of the drivers were to gun it coming out of the corner, it could cause a spin out and a rather nasty accident.

Secondly, instead of using cones at the start and finish, why not use a small rumble strip so there's no ambiguity about when to put the pedal to the metal?

I think they had to add the corner so the cars had enough room to brake safely after the 1/2 mile mark. Some of those cars were hitting 200mph! From what I saw they could've equalized the left and right lanes by starting both cars farther to the left side of the track and setup the turning point so both cars had nearly the same line around the corner. As it was the inside car had to go very slow, and the outside car had to nail the throttle just after the corner. It was easy to get a bad start. I think the vid taken by Wedge shows this very clearly.

I don't think the rumble strip would help. The drivers had no trouble seeing the start cone, they simply had trouble lining up side by side while going the same speed for a clean start.

Because it was designed to be an airstrip, not a race track

We only had so much runway, and they wanted to use as much for the actual race and give you enough braking area.

+1 it was for the braking area, even with the cones set where they were, it wasn't even a true half mile, but more like .45

The M3 is longboarder (Adam) I know he screwed up a lot of his runs the first day. He was able to run most of the races again the 2nd day and get a better run. As for the race with home and Shiv, he can correct me if in wrong but not a clean start for either.

Hey Warren yeah that was Dave (SRanch) in the RB car. It ran very strong.

My run against Shiv was botched as we never discussed the start speed. I was going from 40 all day and he was going from 60 lol. As you can see, his car was gaining hard on mine. Probably has 100 HP on me.

Here's another run I had against a single turbo (CaptainInsano I think). I jumped unfortunately so the run was bad. I have a feeling it would have been a great run had I not jumped. Look forward to the next Airstrip Event with you guys.

All the record holding cars have the passenger seat removed, etc. There are various threads on each of the runs detailing the mods for those that are interested to search for them.

Ahhhhh yes Mike to the rescue I didn't know that you as a vendor were in competition with customers. To clarify for you my car not me holds the Stock turbo E92 record for 1/4 mile. Your wouldn't compare a geo metro with a N54 motor conversion with a 335 and likewise a gutted (we know more than a seat) 135. So lets just leave the JB VS Vishnu crap out of this thread please since I never mentioned JB in the first place. Beyond that I'm confident my car will terrorize the135 you speak of and that's Full weight. We just need to resolve the Trans issues

for me while I wait for "updates" the first logical step is to fit a tranny cooler. I'll be doing that very soon. it can only help as heat is one of the biggest killers with ATs

How do u account for the Vishnu E85 stock turbo (wedge) car only being beat by one car length against Terry. That's twice not one time.
