any retro gamers here?

i'm all about emulation (neo geo, street fighter 2, snes/nes, kings quest and leisure suit larry etc).

mame/zsnes/jnes/dfendreloaded + hdmi out + gamepad = enough games for a lifetime

it's so easy, everything's online. i'm 13 again (and don't need to worry about running out of quarters)

Street Fighter 2! Looking to get a arcade machine for the basement. SF2 championship edition if I can find it. That and the first couple Mortal Kombat's are some of my favorites. Just sold all of my video games on ebay..

25 years worth of my video games. 9 systems 217 games!

I've played Destiny of an Emperor I and II recently. I might get Final Fantasy I NES again. Most of my "old school" days were based on RPGs

mame is available for mac. macmame and mameosx are the two i use. some games work for one and some for the other, together the overlap is very good. on pc, mame32 and winkawaks do the job well (the 64-bit mame is too slow on my laptops)

damn, nice collection, sorry to see it go!

i've had:
intellivision
nes
genesis
snes (w super wildcard game copier)
gameboy
3do
n64
psx (chipped)
ps2 (w x-arcade dual joystick)

everything's gone except for the ps2 setup. but with emulation, no big loss. i just want to play, don't need to collect the hardware

i thought about picking up a neo-geo on ebay (we all know that was the ballers' system, NOBODY in my area had one). but even now, the prices are outrageous (500 bucks for an original neogeo aes and like 5 games, might as well buy a computer and download from romnation/coolrom). back in the day, i had too little money/time, and neo-geo represented the best (yeah, snes made better games, but everyone had one). still my favorite system all-time. just downloaded 11 games tonight... would have been $2200 at 2001innovations lol.

Kept the Nintendo and all the games. The wife wouldn't let that one go! everything else was sold though. The sega dreamcast was one of my favorites. Really ahead of its time with graphics and the first console to offer internet capability.

Gonna start downloading games myself. Just didn't want to hook these old systems up any more. You play them for 10 min. and realize how far we've come and its just not as fun. Its like telling a kid to put his ipad down and to go have fun playing "Oregon trail" on Commodore 64.

it's probably only fun if you played it when it was new.

the only thing i really bought (for the emulation setup) was a $20 gamepad from gamestop. definitely worth it, and the analog stick is great for driving games and decent for fighting games. my hp pavilion has 4 usb ports, so with 4 gamepads you can easily play x-men arcade or wrestlefest.

another thing with those retro systems is that you don't know how much longer the hardware is good for. though neo geo is rereleasing a $200 handheld soon (also has a dock which looks like the original aes). i might get that.

the download:

or if you want to play through the web browser:

any of you old timers remember how it is to rule a street fighter machine when the 2nd-string losers just won't give up?

Nice, a fellow top loader NES owner! I have both myself, with about 90 or so games... still play it all the time!
