Applications:
BMW Vehicles Equipped with H8/H11 Fog lights

Our HID fog light upgrade kit should be used when intense light and/or energy efficiency are desired. HID (High Intensity Discharge) bulbs produce light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes housed inside a transparent fused quartz arc tube. This tube is filled with both xenon gas and metal salts. The gas facilitates the arc's initial strike. Once the arc is started, it heats and evaporates the metal salts forming a plasma, which greatly increases the intensity of light produced by the arc and reduces its power consumption. High-intensity discharge lamps are a type of arc lamp. High-intensity discharge (HID) lamps make more visible light per unit of electric power consumed than fluorescent and incandescent lamps since a greater proportion of their radiation is visible light in contrast to heat.

i'm new to BMW's and in the past I've installed HID's in the foglights of other cars that I've owned and overtime they proved to be too hot for the small fog light housings... browned them up a lot...

Are there any overheating issues with these? I typically drive with my fog lights on, and with extended use I'm wondering what impact they will have on the housings and wiring harnesses?

LEDs run much cooler then normal bulbs so there are no issues...

I am confused. I thought these were HIDs not LEDs?
