Great little feature for when you have to wait around in the car.

Stands for residual heat. Basically once your engine has reached operating temperature you can only then use the function.
It is for things like when you drop the kids off at school or nip into the shops for 10 - 15 mins and when you trun everything off press the rest button and it keeps the heating going to keep your car warm / cold for you whist you have gone for 10 mins or so.

Great little function on a cold / warm day.

Why on a warm day?

I thought it just draws heat from the engine?
How is this going to help cool the cabin, or are you referring to the Max cold function?

No offence at all afalton, this is more of a general comment.... but don't people read their cars manual when they get it? All this stuff is explained in the user manual. I know some cars sometimes have them missing, so fair do, but i know that when i get a new car, i spend an evening just familiarising myself with the controls and systems in the car.
