Doesn't have to be near you. You can buy the warranty from any dealer in the country.

I'm wondering if someone can confirm if this is legitimate or not for me.

I was shopping around and got a response from a dealer in NC:

"I am unable to sell warranties to customers whom have address in Florida, your state regulates all sales of insurance, you must pay full retail if a Florida address is attached to a BMW warranty."

Is this true?

Has anyone in the state of florida bought the extended warranty from someone outside the state?

If my car has $15000 in damages and the dealer has the car currently. Can I still buy an extended warranty now and have them fix the car?

Wow, that is an expensive repair?!!

Short answer is no. Not because of the problem occurring first, etc. But, because you can't buy the warranty if you are already out of warranty. And, if you weren't out of warranty, they would already be paying for it.

If anyone is curious, here is the price list I received locally (according to the sheet these are MSRP). This is for a 2009 335i Sedan. Excuse the quality of the paper..my 2yo got a hold of it.

I have a question for the folks who got theirs from BMW of Austin. I had my car in there for service today so I asked my SA about the extended warranty. He said he's not allowed to give discounts off of the MSRP? Who did you guys talk to?

That may be his dealer policy, it's BS as far as BMW is concerned. Both of the local dealers here offered me discounts. Look through this thread for dealers who will sell to you over the phone at a discount, as well.
