+1. I'm thinking of doing this.

Sorry for beating this drone issue to death, but could someone with little or no drone describe how they have it set up? Is it welded on or is the clamp used. For the hangers, did you use the ones AA provided or used the stock rubber hangers? Just wondering if any of the connection methods affect the drone. Does having an after market intake or the AA stage 2 tune affect anything?

The drone is definitly subjective. The reason I'm so sensitive to it is because I have a 3 month old I need to drive around. I think it puts him to sleep but the wife thinks I will make him deaf. When hes not in the car and my music is up, I actually like being able to hear the exhaust in the background.

If the wifey keeps complaining, I may have to shell out for the PE and sell this one. Hopeing for a much cheaper fix.

PM Lutz Performance about what they did for mine, they're usually in the Florida subsection of E90post. They installed the exhaust for me and there is absolutely no drone when i'm driving. Its completely silent while cruising.

Did anyone touch base with Lutz performance to see if they did anything different?

Could be Vibration from installation and not drone at all.

True! So can the vibration from installation be resolved by further tightening the bolts and screws?

I would try it. I don't see how our test car had no drone and 95% of the customers we install here at the shop do not even mention anytime type of vibration or drone.

Thanks, I'll give that a go once I get back in town. The drone issue is very minimal for me, but I'll tighten up the bolts just to be safe.

I had a hefty drone and a lot of vibration.

Ended up loosing the bolts and getting the pipes a bit lower, seems like they were vibrating on the bumper. Vibration is now less, but drone is still there.
Low 2K rpm range, windows up = numbing drone.

Mine was installed at AA. I guess I am the 5%

I have that in the low 2k RPM range as well but only when I'm accelerating. As soon as I'm cruising, you can't even hear it. I love the low RPM drone though... I think it sounds good. But then again, I'm used to listening to a boxster s with a fabspeed exhaust... now THAT drones.

Question: I own an '06 330i, would this exhaust system be a direct bolt-on or will it require welding? Also, is there a difference in sound between 325s, 328s, and 330s
