Here's some info on the PPK's
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductLis...=241&perf=true The 335i with the M-Sport Pkg has the body kit, M door sills, M steering wheel, just not the aluminum pedals. The biggest advantage the 335is has is the 7 speed DCT over the 6 speed Steptronic in the 335i. Enjoy your new 335is.

I thought I'd order both (about $1200.- from Tischer). N54 or N55 does not matter AFAIK in terms of oil/coolant temps. 300 HP and two turbos Vs. 300 HP and one twin-scroll turbo... it's a wash. The oil cooler is too small for either engine. What does matter is the auto tranny. It uses a oil/coolant heat exchanger and dumps it's heat into the cooling system. I'm sure you'll be OK for autocross, but on a road course you'd need the extra cooling. See the epic "N54 Limp Mode Party at Track" thread for more info. At the very least run the smallest amount of coolant mix you can get away with for your area (but not less than 15% coolant) and a water wetter (RedLine, Motul, HyperLube). I'm nearly at 4 years / 50k and need to have a cooling flush done. BMW, in their infinite wisdom, say the coolant lasts forever I figure I can get the PPK installed and they can change the coolant at the same time. And then I have nearly the identical 335is engine.I've already got one of the 335is approved transmissions (6 speed manual) and I've installed the M/is shifter and the parking brake handle (cheap easy mods). Pedals coming soon. That stuff is all the easy part. If the PPK doesn't have overboost, then I'm sure one of the tuners will figure out how to enable that feature.

Same N54 engine in the 135, 335/335is, 535, Z4is + 1M. The tune (and the various hardware components on the 335is + 1M) are the only differences between them.

I'm thinking of asking Tischer if they can put together a kit with all the cooling components of the PPK but without the software. The idea being that people could install PPK v.1 and then upgrade it to PPK v.2.
You can get software only, but you can't get hardware only PPK. So what do you do if you want to upgrade? A potential issue might be coding of the DME to take advantage of the larger radiator area and stronger fan.

^^^I haven't looked into it, but it would be nice to know there is an option of installing the Auxiliary Water Cooler and an Enhanced Radiator Fan later down the road. For now the car's oil temp seems to run a bit cooler than normal on "D" and on "DS" is at the normal temp of just under 250* when playing around. I haven't seen it above 250* yet. The PPK gives it just enough of a kick for now, its a convertible so I'm not planning on turning it into a track car. I'm just enjoying Florida's sunshine and the new found performance and PE sound.

Steptronic trans uses torque converter slip as part of DSC intervention. That generates extra heat in the transmission that gets transferred to the engine cooling system. Guys that track their auto 335i have noticed this. Turning DSC off might help. Yet another reason the ATF should get changed regularly.

The N55 has a Cast Crank Shaft and the N54 has a Forged Crank Shaft. Suggesting to some that when people start finding the power limits of these motors the N54 will be able to handle more. I think the best 335i is the 07-09 with the N54 because now if you buy new you have to get a 335is to get the N54.
