BC Coilovers quick review

A fair few people ask about coilovers different brands etc etc and I have fitted so many I’ve lost count lol. Anyway it can be confusing with different suppliers like:-

D2
Eiabch
BC
KW

I am not connected with BC in any shape or form I just thought it would be good to share my experience with you guys. So armed with a set of BC coilovers, 2 cans of coke my partner in crime and I fitted a set to my friends e60 yesterday.

I had fitted the Eibach springs to this car about 2 years ago the same time as I fitted the m5 kit. The rear shocks were now weak and the front strut was leaking. There are a fair few coilovers out there ranging from budget jobs for about £250 all the way up to thousands. These are the second set of BC coilovers that I have fitted. They come with the top mounts already installed and you can adjust the damping etc etc. Build quality is very very similar to the D2 coilovers and everything bolts together as it should.

The coilovers are well built and they are adjusted the same way as the D2's, i.e. you adjust the height by unlocking the bottom collar and adjusting the length of the shock. The threads are wide so that means you don’t have to turn the shock 15 times to drop the car 5mm!

For the price of them there great value IMO you which you don’t get with the cheaper brands.

The kit comes in at about 700 quid for the e60 and has the following features

•Pillowball upper mount
•Camber adjustable top mounts
•Aluminium top plates
•30 way adjustable damping
•Adjustable spring platform
•Height adjustment via bottom mount to retain full damper travel
•Bearing mounted upper front spring platform
•Dust boot to protect damper seals

When we priced up a set of 4 shocks from BMW these were a no brainer.

Anyway thought I would share this with you guys and hopefully it may help a few of you :-)

up in the air (you have to remove the inner rear arch on the e60 to get the rear shocks out

Front ones (my friend was eager and already fitted the front wheels)

all back together

The drive is nice and smooth and he is a happy bunny. Once everything has settled we can fine tune the set up and then get it tracked up.

I hope this helps a few peeps
