1) Remove the shift boot using your hand and carefully pulling up on...

Why is Crown (of all places) telling me this part is $35.68. You sure that PN is right on the first page?

Interesting, its only $21.52 on the website. I put in all my info and ordered it it says shipping is nothing. HUH? Does that mean I need to go pick it up from the dealer? Or is it really free. Strange!

Got mine today. So did Eugene put a false floor in it to lift up the gauges? ALso, how do you get the trim piece off the old one and on the new one without jacking it up?

Got this as standard on my UK spec M Sport. I just deleted the smokers package before build, free of charge. I never thought to use it as a sunglasses holder though until seeing the post

I understand the non-smokers package is not an option in the US.

They might not have it in stock.
Call and give them the part #. maybe you get lucky.

Oh and btw...
Check the dimensions of the tray... My Oakleys do not fit in there.
But I use this tray for my cell phone.

I just installed a sunglass holder in my new E90, and it was a piece of cake. It took about 30 minutes, and I was being extremely careful. No scratches, cracks, or gouges. And now my useless ashtray is a cool, integrated, hidden storage spot for sunglasses or whatever else I wish to stash away.

It was $22 from Tischer BMW in Maryland. And it was well worth the $ and the effort.

Thanks to the OP and all those who provided advice in this post.

Yep, I'm down one cig lighter. However, I still have one in the center console. I don't actually need another one.
