Big engine light!!!! - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

The past two days I've gotten the big engine light. I'm not getting any error codes. And I turn car off/on and it goes away. What could be causing this? And is there anything I can do to stop this from happening again?

You should try data logging and getting it to happen again while logging

No codes. I deactivate jb4 and don't get any codes.

The big engine light is when someone pranks you by putting a bigger engine into your car. Check and see if you have a V10, datalog, and come back.

Just to verify, you don't have the auto-clear feature on, correct?

Make sure you don't have jb4 on auto erase. It automatically erase all your engine codes. Turn you jb4 back on and make sure auto clear / erase is off and read the codes.

Turned the autoclear off this morning. I tried to get on it this morning but nothing. Going to try this afternoon.

Misfires would be my guess. How old are the spark plugs?

not even 10k miles on them. i think it may be the coils. are coils covered under 100k warranty?

Need to know this as well, I changed plugs under 50k but not coils, are coils covered under gold warranty?

Looks like your engine light came on when your RPMs didnt increase. In that case, your VTEC is failing to kick in.

Oh, and SRT-10? Really? Dream bigger, my man....

That Light came on when one of the coils were bad. Took it the dealer and sure enough it was one bad coil.

could be any number of things...VANOS solenoids, misfires, etc. now with the code eraser turned off it should only be a matter of time before it comes up again. update us then.

EDIT: drawings are funny by the way!
