Well the filters might work, but the PVC is worrying me. You sure it can withstand the heat? Although, that side of the engine doesnt get too hot.

according to the googles, pvc has a continuous rating of ~150 degrees F. and will begin to fail at around 280 degrees F.

Pretty sure PVC gives off toxic fumes when heated and is not suitable for an intake.

That paint does not reflect heat, it can simply withstand temperatures to 500 degrees. The PCV still gets hot.

Seriously, you are (pardon the pun) playing with fire here. Or at least the distinct possibility of molten goo all over your engine. No bueno...

I'm not an expert on the thermodynamics of PVC so I can't say if this will work or not, but you can get a DCI used for $60. Is it worth the risk?

Just my .02 cents. I will applaud you for being creative though.

I'd be weary of unreputable branded filters. I'm a big fan of the DIY mentality but not all filters are created equal in terms of the amount that actually gets filtered as well as the flow.

Then you have to worry about durability. I've personally seen cars come in where the metal filter end had separated from the paper element which allowed dust/sand/dirt to enter the intake tract unfiltered. You could drive thousands of miles without realizing the filter had separated/failed.
