Anyone daily drive with DR's?

Im sick of the traction issues with my car, im now on the search for a good sticky tires and after doing some research I came to a few choices.

Hankook rs3
Nitto 555r

or step it up some more:

Toyo Proxes r888
Nitto NT05r


If anyone has experience running any of these please chime in. Im looking for max grip, decent tire wear, with a decent DD capabilities for wet/dry roads.

I run 555rs, and i still have bad traction problems... What power level are u running?

Toyo R888 should be fine for low/mid 400 WHP and street driving (especially in the Northeast where you'll have trouble getting temp in the tires right now).


If you're going to the strip, not a big deal to drive their on MTs or the Nittos. I just wouldn't DD on DRs (waste of money & mileage on the DRs).

**I'm still driving on run flats on FBO/ProTune Power, little troubling hooking until they're warmed up. Just no point on getting new summer wheels in the middle of December

I've run both Toyo proxes r888 and nt555r. I'd pick the nt555r over the r888. But they have different advantages. 555r is better for straight line. R888 better for twisties. I'm running 285/35-18 right now. Also, don't expect more than 5000 miles out of either.

YEA!! A lot of the supercharged E9x M3 & aftermarket turbo 335 guys run the Toyo R888 or the Michelin PS2s. Right now those are probably the best 2 street tires

I got the PSS thinking they would always hook, but not so. They are better than the previous tires I had, but when the temps go under 65, I have no traction until 4th gear (470wtq, LSD). I have DRs too, but you can't drive on those DD (zero wet traction, would be bald in a month or two).

Bro first all off the m3 is my bros which I am posting under his account, I have a fbo 335i which I posted in the 3rd post.

Second of all, I drag the car occasionally so that is WHY i am looking for a extra sticky tire. Not to just drive around NYC

still not sure why you want to daily drive on drag radials...

if you take the car to the track "occasionally", why would you want to burn through DRs on the street?

For what you're looking, DRs would be a COMPLETE waste of money. Stick with the R888s, they're a high performance street tire that you'll actually be able to enjoy on the road

I daily drive with Nitto 555R (285/35/18) and I am very happy with them. You have instant traction in any conditions and temperatures (even lower temps), as long as it's dry. If it's wet and summer, traction is still like 70% of normal tires. Wet and cold temps is not ok but it's not very dangerous either.

My only problem is that the Nittos are a little larger in diameter than usual e90 tires and a thinner sidewall would make my 18" rims look better.

I've been running some 275/40/17 nitto 555r on stock 17 inch rims as a DD. They fit fine and the traction is much better than the stock runflats.

Those are them. You'll prob get the most bang for buck with these, then PS2s. DRs are an absolute waste for driving around in the Northeast unless they're strictly your "Race" tires. Between the shitty road quality & potholes, you'll get more use out of them doing burnouts in your driveway

They last from spring to late autumn with no problems. Mine seem to still have enough tread to last another year too. Not sure how many miles, they probably last 12.000 miles at a minimum (with multiple launches in drag contests).
