M3 air ducts.. Really bad diy lol - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

Got my m3 bumper installed. Posted up a pic last week. Anyways finally got around to removing the fog lights and cutting the tabs with a dremel VERY carefully. Then attaching the m3 air ducts, or whatever's left of them after you trim them lol. And putting the bumper back on. Need better pics of the process but just wanna throw it out that it's super easy mod to do that adds more aggressiveness to your car if you have a m3 rep.

Remove bumper

Cut tabs

Sand down/ clean up where tabs were.

Get your M3 ducts ready.

3M double sided tape them to your bumper. (Make sure you clean the sticking surfaces.)

^^horrible pics! Lol

Bring your bumper back to the car lol

MAKE SURE everything lines up and doesn't push your fenders back!

Also before bolting up the bumper perfect time do figure out what you need to do with your fog lights. I wrapped them in electrical tape and tucked them up. Bad idea I know but until I code them off this is the best I can do. Plus no one else drives this car.

Put the bumper back on and your golden. Nice thing is the for some reason my vents got so close to the brake duct holes lol. So they are functional

Ill have some pics up next week of the car. Needs a detail bad!

make sure you're not restricting the vent for the brakes. I cut up the m3 air vent in a way so that it feeds air to the hole in the wheel well liner for the brakes. Also opened up the hole a bit with a dremel so that the brakes can get some better cooling.

Good to know these are functional.. Might be a route I take in the future. Hope to doesn't affect aerodynamics too much.

And yes please give a more detailed diy with better pics. Also would like to see what you used to cut the air duct down and where you cut

Just a ordinary dremel you can buy a nice one for 30 and Walmart lol.

Lol eBay aero lip wouldn't hold well esp being really low and I scrape. I made sure to strap that bitch down!!!!

I'm pretty happy with the look. Need to get a front lip for the bumper. I'm not happy with anything out tho. Lol

Most guys get them from Tischer. The part numbers are floating around in the exterior section.

hmm. I bought my air ducts a while back and haven't had a chance to get them installed!

Do you thing it's better to have a bodyshop install it or a mechanic?

Nah man it's super easy. Don't waste your money. Just when your cut the tabs tape off the lines. Remember measure twice cut once. It's super easy.

About them being functional or non-functional doesnt really matter, the Mtech bumper i had didnt allow any air flow through the stock brake ducts, atleast now they will get some air even if its not directly connected, better than no air flow at all as long as theres no gaping hole in your bumper

The end of the duct or the part that goes inside lol have to be trimmed. I mean alot of trimming to make them fit in the space between the fender liner and bumper
