Exclamation N54 Oil Filter Housing Gasket

Found a DIY to change the gasket. Is it a simple job? Do I have to mess with the intake manifold or coolant lines? Any clearer DIY's will be appreciated. Thanks

There is one floating around. It doesn't seem to be difficult.

You will need to drain some coolant. When I did it, I removed the fan, the undertray, and the intercooler. I took the time to clean the sand, bugs, and dirt out of the IC. The fan may get covered in oil when you unbolt the oil lines. You can drain some of the coolant by unscrewing the radiator drain once the IC is out of the way.

Yes, you will need to pull the manifold out of the way. You can use a T6 or T8 Torx socket to pull the studs out of the head instead of having to lift the manifold up so far.

No need to fully remove the manifold, take the t30 off of your charge pipe, unbolt the manifold and pull it back about 2 inches and you should be able to get to the e10 under the manifold. A ratcheting torx wrench will save you the trouble of pulling the fan ect. You will leak coolant and oil, but nothing major, top off the coolant and spray it down with some brake clean. You will have oil/coolant drips for a few days if you don't drop the underbody.

It is easy, 25-45 min job.

1. Remove DCI or box (whatever you have)
2. Remove upper radiator hose, let voolant drain a bit (I jacked the front of my car up and let it sit overnight).
3. loosen intake manifold
4. Loosen oil sensor on back of housing (mine was on there pretty good, easier to do this while housing is bolted down.
5. Take off oil filter cap and take filter out, wipe out any oil ECT.
6. lift up manifold a bit for acess to corner bolt on housing
7. Remove other bolts to housing and it is off.

I have pics of my hold housing if you want or need them
