H&R springs on e90 too low!

Good evening guys. I'm after some advice if you would be so kind

I have a set of 19" csl reps et35 and H&R 40mm lowering springs with standard m sport shocks on my E90.

The ride is so hard that when I go over even the smallest of potholes/bumps it feels like I'm doing serious damage to the car and the shocks are going to smash through the strut tops.

I love the stance and look of the car but its pretty much on the verge of undrivable!!

What would you guys do in this situation, would coilovers make much difference?just go back to M Sport springs?

I love the look but I dread driving it!

Get coils, the spring will match the dampers.

Agreed it needs something. I'm reluctant to buy a decent set of coilovers if the ride is going to be just as hard, same problem still if I buy some Uprated shocks what's to say I won't still be in the same position.

I'm just after a general consensus as to what my best option is as its definitely not a pleasure to drive at the moment and I want to get it sorted once and for all

Everybody knows that just springs is catastrophical...

Why don't people inform before doing...

OP: Buy some shocks! Bilstein shocks would give you a nice combo.

Sorry I'm still finding my way...the springs were said to 'complement' the existing equipment. Well I can say they certainly don't!!

Yes and no really, it feels like I have zero travel from the shocks though

Hmm, I wonder what's going on. The ride shouldn't be too bad. Definitely stiffer than stock but shouldn't feel like you're destroying the strut towers.

Nope my struts are in perfect condition and were properly checked when the springs went on. The shocks have only covered about 30k and only around 1k with the H&R springs on.

Our Uk roads certainly don't help but it literally feels like there is zero suspension travel.

I have had cars previously that have been lowered by a lot but they have all felt like there is a travel left. The Bm is totally different

H&R is know for a "hard" ride... You would have had a "softer" ride with Eibach...

Just get shocks and you'll be fine

I had to change my front shocks.... they can be shot, even if you barely see a leak. It made a night and day difference. I have an Eibach kit.

I have H&R sport's with stock struts and shocks, and well the ride is rough, but nowhere near undrivable.

I cant remember, but do the bump stops on the stock struts need to trimmed down when installing H&R's? If so and that wasn't done, then that will defiantly be the cause of your problem.

I have the Bilstein sport shocks and H&R spring (x-drive if that matters) and while the ride is stiffer then the stock suspension it is nowhere near unbearable. Maybe just go back to stock suspension if you liked the feel of that better. Any lowering option is going to compromise the ride quality to some degree.

if i were you, id keep that ride height and switch the wheels/tires down to 18s with thicker rubber. then you can still be low and have a bit more rubber.

I have a coupe and my H&R sport with stock shocks and struts are fine. A little stiffer than stock but pretty comfortable.

Put your stock setup back on. Being lowered isnt for you. Even coilovers will ride too rough for you

If you want to use your H&R springs and save some money just go for Koni Yellows. You'll find them to be a nice compromise. The reason your ride is so spine jarring is because your shocks are probably bottoming out or you're nailing your bump stops. KW makes coilovers that are centered around comfort that you could also take a look at. Any coilover is going to be more forgiving than bottoming out/blown shocks though. Mine felt more compliant than my stock nonsupport suspension before they blew on me.
