Just made my own DCI ,
wanted them to match the car!
2" pvc, High heat paint. two cone filters (not spectra's) thoughts?

Well the filters might work, but the PVC is worrying me. You sure it can withstand the heat? Although, that side of the engine doesnt get too hot.

its was spayed with high heat gloss in and out, looks like a almost plastic coating. up to 500 degrees

ya i didnt realize pvc had such a low low heat, will replace with aluminum piping asap

I'm not an expert on the thermodynamics of PVC so I can't say if this will work or not, but you can get a DCI used for $60. Is it worth the risk?
Just my .02 cents. I will applaud you for being creative though. |

I'd be weary of unreputable branded filters. I'm a big fan of the DIY mentality but not all filters are created equal in terms of the amount that actually gets filtered as well as the flow.
Then you have to worry about durability. I've personally seen cars come in where the metal filter end had separated from the paper element which allowed dust/sand/dirt to enter the intake tract unfiltered. You could drive thousands of miles without realizing the filter had separated/failed. |
