Where Were You One Year In?

So i just realized I am about 1 year into my ownership of my 328xi. Looking back I have done the following:
3 stage intake manifold
BMW PE
H&R Springs/ Bilstein Shocks
CDV Delete
Carbon Filter-K&N Drop in mod.
Some appearance mods (black grills, ZHP knob.. the usual)

Just wondering how this compares to all of you guys out there. Did you do all your mods in a short time span or did you spread it out over a few years? Just wondering

me too, see sig.

It is because I am generally excited about the car and my enthusiasm is fulfilled with mods.

About a week in, I had a ZHP shift knob, M3 spoiler, color matched side reflectors and black grilles.

About a year in, I had added my aero lip.

Two years in, I had added KW V1s with Work VS-XX wheels and BMW PE.

Three years in, I cranked my KW V1s all the way down and switched up my wheels for OEM 359Ms, added LUX H8 V3s, Noyka yellow fogs, got my amber delete coded, and did a secondary cat delete for my exhaust.

I'm now almost five years in and have recently parted ways with my suspension and wheels, but I'm keeping my cosmetic mods, and getting my car flashed with the AA tune.

OP: Is the 3 stage manifold mod worth it on the 328xi, or are the gains minimal?

Well i only payed about $400 for everything from a salvage yard and I did the work myself, which was a total bitch since I havent done much of this before, but the result was noticeable. Mostly about 4300 RPM when the second flap actuates is when I notice the biggest difference. I still dont have a tune for it and that should help a little bit more. But in the end of the day, I would do it again given that I got a good deal on the parts again. As with installation, I had a friend help me for a bit. That definitely helped. Going in with minimal knowledge of how to change such a thing, it took me a saturday and sunday. About 6 hours saturday and 4-5 sunday. The biggest pain was just disconnecting some of the hoses and things like that. But it saved money so I think it was worth it for me.

The charts on that graph seem to portrait what I feel driving it.

I have been very slow to actually mod my car as I had my first baby this year so there is no such thing as spare cash.

1 year in I had:

Performance Grills
Performance SSK

Now at 1.5 years I have added:

Cyba scoops
K&N + Charcoal Removed (removed cartridge, no need to dremel)
Replaced RFT with non RFT

On the list in the next 6 - 12 months:

CDV bypass
Performance strut bar
Either AA cat back or PE
AA tune, not sure there is value for the money yet

I'm one year in now lol major mods are just wheels and coilovers. Everything else are just minor visual improvements (taillights, headights, remus muffer, resonator delete, tint, charcoal delete, etc.)

AA doesn't offer a catback -- it's a weird muffler.

Good to know, I have only seen the prelim pics. For my e36 M3, they had a full cat back with x pipe so I was hoping for the same. Maybe I will end up with PE, seems to be a crowd favorite.

I am really curious if anyone that heavily mods their car before shaking it down gets to appreciate what BMW makes for the money. As with my track car, I spent a lot of time learning how to drive it at 9/10th of its ability rather than my own before I made any changes. Just a thought, I love mods but tend to be conservative out the gate, funding issues aside.

IMO, BMW PE the best, especially with a secondary cat delete. The AA exhaust won't do anything but offer a note to your exhaust.

One year in, I didn't know a damn thing about my car so it stayed stock. Luckily it was a factory mtech package so it still looked nice.
When I started learning more (2nd year in) I went crazy lol
Mod list from 2nd year to current (running 3rd to 4th year)
Alpine AEs (6500k), alpine fog lights (3000k), coded by alpine, cyba scoops, muffler delete (too quiet so I got rid of it) went to a custom hks hi power exhaust (replica; n1 canister style) w/ resonator and 2ndary cat delete, k&n drop in filter w/ charcoal and intake silencer delete, beyern mesh wheels (18x8.5 and 18.9.5 on too many sets of tires), 2 12" kicker cvr with an unported box, street tech amp (horrible amp but I got it for dirt cheap; 1000w rms on 1 ohm[current configuration]), CDV delete (hi flowing mod), upgraded clutch stop (DIY), drilled and slotted front and rear rotors from 88 rotors, motorsport hardware's stud/lug conversion with 15mm spacers on front, real rear trunk spoiler from acs, roof spoiler acs style (replica), CF roundels, complete dynamat on the trunk area and minor interior dynamating, and more but I forget.
I don't usually do these because they're always secretive to me lol but I just wanted to share.
What's going on my car next year is a complete secret but I promise it'll be something you'll scratch your head for lol

It really is. You can read up all you want about how to please a woman, you can look at all the diagrams in the world, but just like the clitoris, you won't know what the hell an apex is before you actually find it.
