I keep searching but can't find the answer anywhere. Looking for winter wheels on Craigslist and ran into a good pair but don't know if they'll fit. It's a square setup with the wheels being 17 x 7.5 ET40 and tires are 205/50R17. Would they fit a E90 335i LCI??

I don't believe the 335i can take 17" wheels, they won't clear the brake callipers.

It depends on the wheel. You have to check to make sure that it will clear front calipers. Also, the tires seem narrow. I run 17" ASA JH3 and 225/45 Blizzak LM-25.

The best thing would be to buy a used set from e9x.

Your best bet would be to ask the owner if he/she is ok with a test fit. I doubt you would have problems with most 17s, but you never know. I run 17s in wintertime and they have more than enough clearance. I would probably lean toward 225s though in an ideal world (driving-style dependent) unless you plan to only use the tires in the snow.

205/50/17 has almost the same diameter than 225/45/17. Only 0.098 inch difference.

But, i doubt those will clear the brakes, because the wheel is so narrow and has so high offset. Also it would look stupid, because wheels would be so deep in the wheel wells.

I think the 157s are 17x8 ET37 so OP's specs are not far off. That would be a great setup for heavy snow. However as others have said the only way to know that they would fit would be to test fit because of the caliper clearance issues - unless you know the mfgr. and model of the wheels and tire rack happens to sell them.

Infact its 17x8 et34 so it would retract 12mm and i think that makes a big difference especially ,because its goes deeper in the wheel housing. Also i have read/heard somewhere that all e9x Original BMW:s 17 inches will clear the 335 brakes, but aftermarket is hit or miss.
Tyre itself would be better in the snow, because its narrower.

I have 17x8 et 20 with 225/45/17 square setup on my pre-lci and going to add 10mm spacer to rear.Lci wont need the spacer ,because it has wider rear track.

Unfortunately there is nothing in the wheel specs that will tell you for sure if a given wheel will clear the brake caliper as the spoke design itself comes into play. If you find a 17X7.5" wheel that clears, you can use 205/50R17 or 225/45R17. If the wheel ends up being a 17X8, stick with 225/45R17.

I have this combo except the offset being 35. 17 inch wheels need to be test fitted to be sure they clear the brakes. Some poor designs don't.
