Need input on something.

I found a nice DPMS Oracle for a good price on Armslist. The seller wants me to send him a cashiers check or money order though, he won't accept paypal for whatever reason. Who knows. Maybe I am just being paranoid but I always do online transactions through paypal because of the added security. The last email I got from him below.

Quote:
Hey Zach,
I am not willing to go through paypal... Maybe you should get a check out,it can still be cancelled and your money will be refunded into your account..That secures you also.... Even if it is cashed and i do not ship the gun,you can call your bank to cancel the check and it will be debited from my account and your account would be refunded..You can call your bank to know that.. Let me know.I don't just like the pay pal stress... Keep me posted

Yeah you don't want DPMS stress, either.

techincally you aren't allowed to purchase firearms through paypal.
They will suspend your account if they find out. Usually you have to send payment for another item to avoid gun words that they may pick up. Unfortunately you loose the buyer protection stuff as well.

Never knew that. If that's the case then I might just wait until my local dealer re-stocks. Not worth the hassle in case this guy does screw me over. Thanks for the heads up.

Midwayusa.com has DPMS lower part kits for $60 incase anyone is looking. Aimsurplus.com has Spike's LPKs for $63.60 too.

On another note, cheaperthandirt.com is run by a bunch of assholes. 1000 rounds of 62 grain 5.56 for $999.99? Lol yeah right. Oh, and they're selling 30 round mags for $100 each.

They just lost a customer.

Everything is sold out. I think I'm gonna wait a couple more months to buy ammo. I can't shoot the AR with a foot of snow outside right now. Plus, hopefully the prices will come down.

Cabela's has Hornady .223 55 gr FMJ 50 round box for $29.99 in stock.

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Horna...s#productChart

UPDATE: Cabela's website now shows these rounds as "backorderable"

Not greatest price per round, but the best new manufacture loads I can find in-stock anywhere else at this time. Just ordered 5 boxes plus a Magpul Rail ($5.99) to take advantage of Cabela's instant $20 rebate for orders over $150. The $20 rebate took care of the rail/shipping cost and with no sales tax to California, I thought it was a pretty decent deal considering all the craziness that is currently going on.

So the fiancé is less then thrilled with the idea of a "black rifle" because its "scary looking and stuff". That combined with the crazy high prices on all things AR related right now means I'm not going to get one.

However we did come to a compromise and even though its not officially a black rifle, it's something I've always wanted. She's agreed to let me get a M1 Garand from the CMP . I'm gonna fill out all the paperwork tonight and send it in on Monday.

Only debate is to get it chambered in 30-06 or .308.

m1 is a cool gun, I would lean toward 06 just because it is traditional, but 308 is more available...

For most things I don't, but for something as serious as a firearm I want to make sure she's ok with it. If she's not she might use it on me

That's what I was thinking. Plus they install a block to make it .308, while the 06 would be all original. You can get 200 rounds of surplus ammo through them for a pretty reasonable price too.

I cleaned my gun store out, and I have a few extra Springfield Armory M1A Scount Squad Rifles (M14) that I'm willing to sell. Pm me if interested.

Yeaaaaaa I'd hold off on giving that one a ring. Only going to get worse when you get married.
