So I have been looking at the DIY's for the cheap rear fog switch. Is it true that the white plastic piece that you need for it to work is already in the LCI e90 switch and all I need to do is cut the tabs that hold the blank button in?

No... At least not for my car. To do mine I had to cut the tabs then make the white piece myself. I just found a bunch of random plastic in my garage and used that for the white piece. I cut up a square to push down the buttons then cut up a little plastic cylinder to use to push the square and then the buttons. Idk if that made any sense but I hope it was at least a bit helpful.

If the light switch is similar to the pre lci then yes, that is correct. You're only "given" one of the plastic pieces (linked below) that's intended for the fog light. If you don't need your fog lights, you can switch it instead of buying or custom-fab your own.

You can buy the switch from ECS TUNING, it is not that expensive.

Take your switch apart and see for yourself. It might just be there. If it's not, any piece of plastic about an inch long will do the trick.

Best tool to use to pry it open that I would have sitting around my house? Im bored and need something to do tonight or tomorrow?

Just a screw driver will do the trick. You just need to open up a few snap tabs to get it apart.

alright thanks, only thing im afraid of doing is breaking the trim piece. I know you start on the steering wheel side but any more specific on what places to pry from? Im so pissed I cant find my legos in my house from when I was a little kid. They have to be somewhere

That's one of the easiest piece of trim to remove. Almost impossible tp break the trim or pins. Just take your time and be gentle. It'll come off just fine.

Took it off and the piece wasn't inside Now I have to go over to my friends house and get some legos. I think it is 2010 and up that have the extra piece.

i'm about to do it for my '09 LCI. i've already got the lego parts from my kids and cut up a small piece off a rubber band (to make it bouncy)

my 2011 e90 had the while plastic piece. All I had to do was take a small razor blade to the tiny nubs on the black button. Worked like a charm.

Where are you putting the rubber band? I just did mine tonight and it was super easy and got a good feeling after doing it! When the dummy button is depressed it doesn't feel like the fog light button.

I think 2010 and up have the white piece because 2009 LCI e90s don't have them, but the 2010's did

I used a piece of lego and flat plastic to make mine. If you don't have the plastic piece don't worry about it, just use something that can reach the button (Which is pretty much anything)
