Need a car .. 5k budget .. HELP

Right,

My corrado went friday night for what i advertised it to a guy who was almost in tears he loved it so much - really nice selling to a proper enthusiast for the car.

Anyway... need a car ... not ASAP, but knowing me... it will be.

So car 18 needs :

04 onwards
4 seats
Quick or different
under 80k on clock
Would like leather
something i can sell on in a year or so without ease
can stretch another 500... but thats it for my own sanity

so far ideas are :
R32 Golf
Audi 3.0 Quattro Convert
Mazda 6 MPS
BMW 330 clubsport

REALLY stuck for ideas...

A better thread

Whats the primary use? The practicality of the R32 is always good lovely exhaust note too.
330 clubsport is also a nice car. Is it just these 4 cars?

None of these cars are likely to sell with ease. While I'm sure they are all really nice cars, they are all relatively thirsty, without being as fast as others with similar economy.

For example, an R32 will get low to mid 20's on average mpg wise. Same as my 4.2 V8 S4 would with over 100 BHP more. In fact, every car you have listed will be in a similar position.

That said, the R32 would be where my money went from that list. Lovely car, beautiful note, and a bit of an icon.

If you want something easy to sell, get a 2.0 TDI Estate of some German variety (A4, 3-series, c-class, passat etc...). Otherwise, an easier sell is for a very good car, vor bottom of the market money. i.e. you pay just now for the good example, but expect to sell it cheap to get it to move. I have seen a few R32's for sale up hear, at reasonable prices, for months.

My S4 took 18 months to shift. Saying that, the 1.8T Golf GTI I took in px was sold within 2 days because I took it in px at a price that was easily sell-able.

5k should get you a pretty decent Range Rover / Discovery or similar though. Mine is kitted with LPG, and I can't imagine loosing too much money on it when I sell it, other than what it costs to keep it on the road.

Or go for a VR6T of some description, or 1.8T mk2 Golf. You should be able to pick up one of the best examples for that money, and they sort of cars wont depreciate like newer cars. You wont get 04 onwards, or sub 80k, but you will get an iconic motor, that will end up costing you very little.

need something newer this time - corrado was 17 yrs old and i did miss a lot of creature comforts.

And we have an A6 estate at home.. so dont need anything big.

But keep the thoughts coming in .. all useful!

S2K
TT
Boxster
VX220

Put them up as you've said they're just for you so you wouldn't miss the rear seats.

Decided against p1.... It needed about a grand of work as a cam needed doing and rust as well.

Have been tempted with 2 seats.... But we have family round often so 4 seats is really useful otherwise be an s2000 without doubt

I'd suggest a E46 330D coupe,but I'm not sure you'd get one for the budget?
Crazy power when mapped, and still a cracking looking car.

Stunning isnt it. nearly bought a 325i convertible in glacier white with the wide arch body kit. Mrs talked me out of it and bought another Ren5 GTT instead.

Look at the state of the interior. Looks like the passenger wiped his arse on the seatbelt.

I like the leather antimacassars. And that's a word you don't use very often.
