335xi dyno.. around 400 horsepower. Video
Happy new year all,
Went to ISP Racing in Beltsville, Md on a whim and had my car dynoed. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect the numbers I got. I've always read that it takes a lot more to get to that 400 wheel hp mark on our awd cars. Ended up with 397 hp and 400 torque. Seemed like the tranny started slipping for a second but pulled consistently. The operator said something about it making too much torque and something about the torque converter needing to be a bit looser. He also mentioned that his dyno reads about 13% lower than others in the area. What was fun is that I went around same time as my friend's RS4 and he was putting down 300ish hp, but man that v8 sounds amazing. I was running a jb4 on map 7 with 60/40 e85 mix, stock intake with lid off, new plugs, injectors, coil packs, and lpfp. Numbers seem about right for an xi? They were telling me with the numbers and launch I should see 11s. Here's the video: Here's the dyno pic: ![]() Last edited by GraphiteBastard; 01-04-2013 at 11:27 AM. |

I was definitely surprised. I was expecting maybe 360 hp without down pipes and such. The car is an auto. Hey Pits, I'm new to the dyno thing. What makes it look scary? I've been trying to compare it to other xi dynos to better understand it.

I could be wrong but I think map 7 is way too agressive for your car with your mods... I'm FBO and I wouldn't touch map 7 even with 60/40 e85 mix. I asked Terry a few weeks ago if I upped the E85 could I run on map 7 and he said he really wouldn't recommend it. For your mods you should be running map 5 on E85 so you make sure that the car is running well.

I could be wrong too but I remember reading that you can run the e85 mix on the race map or 100 octane. Ill have to check with Terry as the wisdom may have changed. This was the thread I read before the dyno about using map 7 for the mix.
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15337 Thanks for the heads up though bro. Psmitty Have you dynoed your car? I've been looking to see what other xi or x drive cars are putting out. A lot of the dynos on dragtimes are a couple years old now. |
