Thanks man! That was the plan but the 1,000 round order of 7.62x39 I placed two weeks ago still hasn't even shipped yet! I'm going to do some local shopping tomorrow to see if I can find any. Doubtful.

You have yourself a beautiful Kalashnikov there my friend. I think your modifications were very tastefully done as well. How do you like running it with the optic?

I think the only "mod" I have planned for now is a Vickers sling. I want to practice with just the iron sights for a while.

And you are correct about the mag wobble - there is none. I managed to find two brand new Arsenal Bulgarian Circle 10 30-round magazines to go with her.

The red dot is pretty good. If it fails, I could always remove the QD mount and run irons. I have a poor eye sight though haha. So glad I am stock up with 7.62 before all these panic buying.

What is the story on the mount?

Let's hear about those planned mods, if you don't mind sharing.

Hopefully putting the safety on first!

Thats a hell of a muzzle brake for a 5.56. Is the barrel in multiple pieces? Looks like a different color right after where the front sight goes.

Well it's a 12 ga saga 12 semi auto shotgun, it came with a five round magazine, but they sell ten round banana clips, and twenty round drums for it too! Should be fun!

It's one piece. The camera lighting makes it seem duller than it really is.

Very nice list.

You may be set on the Burris optic, but I'm an Aimpoint whore (and I'm sure others around here would be glad to attest to that). Accordingly, I encourage you to consider what I think is the finest red dot sight on the market today: the Aimpoint T-1 Micro (on a LaRue LT660 mount). It is insanely rugged, easy to use, incredibly light, and has phenomenal battery life (i.e., you can leave it on for years).

I would also skip the bipod and go for a lighter VFG but that's just personal preference. Your intended use for the carbine could be entirely different than mine.

Be sure to post up some more pics as the build comes along.

Pretty much the same proposed legislation that failed to go to vote in the IL Senate this past week is now being snuck into a Sunday session in the House as Amendment #1 to SB2899. This pretty much does away with every common, and not-so, handgun except < 50oz wheel guns. Not sure what sticks would be left, but even 10/22s would be illegal.

Do you generally store your AR with the hammer cocked/charged? I generally don't, so I can't engage the safety.

Never. There's no need to put the safety on when there isn't a mag in the gun.

For every rifle I have been issued, thats how they stay in the armory. In Afghanistan I always had an empty chamber when I wasn't on patrol and still had the weapon cocked and on safe. It doesnt hurt the trigger to keep it like that. I think for me its more of a military habit to always have it on safe.

in a way that makes sense, worst case scenario is that you can visually see that the safety is on
