Thinking of Lowering my e90 by cutting existing springs?
I have heard people say they lowered their car by cutting the existing springs. Does anyone know if I were to have a shop cut 3/4" in off the front springs & 1" off the back if it is feasible???

why even take the risk. H&R race springs are like $200.
I would not tamper with existing coil springs as it will effect the structural integrity of the springs IMHO. Those "people" are nuts.

Put on your flame suit now... The last thing you wanna do is to cut your springs and go bouncing around town in your e90 at every crevice and rock that touches your wheels.

And those who say this are the ones who are too poor to buy parts.

Yes, this would be a very bad idea. Leave it at stock ride height or buy aftermarket springs.......please.

What everyone else said and pair it up with quality shocks or just do it right the first time by saving up for some coilovers, you won't be disappointed if you go the coilover route.

I have a set of H&R spoert springs with E36 bump stops for with less that 2,500 miles also habe OEM bump stops with less than 100 miles on them all for $175.00.

How will the e36 bump stops work with the e90 & how low off a drop do they provide? I am wanting to drop the front lower than the back...

I once watched somebody cut the springs on a GTI with a Sawzall on the car! The springs just unloaded in the strut and he grabbed the cut piece with channel locks. 20 minutes later, he had a lowered car. I said: You, sir, are a boss.

if you use a katana blade and the cut is quick/even/swift... it should be fine. make sure to get alignment afterwards.
